I don't have the rule to cite, but on the F-1 preview a week ago on Speed, it said that KERS had to start at zero when the lights went out. I remember thinking it would be cool to use it for acceleration in places like Malaysia with long straights.

Maybe just bad reporting by SPEED. What else is new?

KERS gets charged on the warmup lap.

It can be used on the start, but only when the car is <100km/hr. It can be used for a specific period during any lap of the race. The first lap, is a lap of the race.

Did you watch the telecast? The commentaters making a point to watch the KERS cars off the start line. Watching the "Rubens" crash initally makes you think it was Rubens fault. After closer inspection and replays, you can see HK causing it. If the video got taken down, so be it. Choose to stick with your theory. I dont mind. I have eyes and can see what happened.

Btw here is a quote from Rubens.

    Rubens Barrichello (P2):
"Well you could say that I had an eventful afternoon! I had a lot of mixed emotions during the race and honestly I am so delighted to have achieved second. It was really tough for me at the start as the anti-stall kicked in which cost me a few places off the line and then I was hit heavily from behind going into the first corner and thought my race was over.

KERS is fully charged at the start. Charging in the pits takes some 2 hours and is outside of the Parc Ferme conditions. Even if this were not the case, it could be charged on the recon and warm up laps.

RB suffered a poor start due to the anti-stall device that put the car in neutral. He stayed to the inside of the track on the run down to the first turn, where he waws smacked up the backside by HK. Jolt pushed him into MW and damaged the end plate of his front wing.

The second contact was fairly minor and knocked the end plate the rest of the way off. He pitted for a nose at his first stop.

Its funny when I hear people arguing about something when they are completely wrong. Rubens did get slammed into by Heiki Kovalainen, which in turn pushed him into Mark Webber. Either people are in denial that BGP was on podium 1-2, or they honestly didn't see the accident as it actually happened. They even showed the replay. I guess they just need someone to blame for their team of choice not winning.

Rubens was adviced to stay on the track and keep racing, even with a damaged rear diffuser AND front wing, and eventually he still managed to get to the front. Even with Kubica and Vettel ahead of him, he was in 4th. Great considering how many positions he lost thanks to HEIKI KOVALAINEN.

I am not trying to be difficult or to be in denial. I no longer have a replay as I erased my TIVO, and the F-1 on youtube has been taken down. During the race, and maybe I was just sleepy, I did not see any announcer point out that HK pushed RB into the side of Weber. I saw an on-board shot in RB's car and it showed him hitting Weber, but there was no way to tell he was shoved from behind.

Look, I do not think anyone is denying that Brawn was 1-2 on the podium, and I'd rather have had someone else win. But this shake-up is good for F-1--better than a parade cars that never do anything. I also love the fact that Richard Branson showed up an hour before the race to paste his sponsorship on that Fugly car.

Further, even though I am a Ferrari fan, and like others, I believe that as long as these guys comply with the letter of the rule, they should be allowed to keep the diffuser as it is.

What is the saying about building a better mousetrap? I like the fact that a few teams were bright enough to gain an advantage. If it is not illegal, then, in my book, it is legal.

BTW, did you notice Branson's sun glasses. My secretary at work told me that they are $5K.
