Hey guys, long time lurker but rarely post unless needed. Here is my contribution to the pics from today's grand opening. Hope you guys will like http://www.electrot3k.com/Pics/RUF%20Auto%20Centre%20Grand%20Opening/
Great photos & welcome to Ferrarichat. I've seen that Nissan Skyline before, it was at a dyno day a couple of weeks ago at ATS in Denton.
Just guessing from the pictures, but 19pSi appears to be a Porsche man! No pics of any of the Ferraris, or the GT, or the Panoz, or the Panteras, or the.....
I came in at 11am and I had to snap as many pictures of Ruf's and other lovely Porsches as possible I wished I came when the Ford GT showed up
Nice pictures. I love Rufs... (they are NOT Porsches... they are RUFs) A friend of mine has two factory built 680hp RUF 996s. They are great. Highly recommend them. .
Can someone please explain this to me? Is it just an extremely tuned Porsche, or an actual company that uses similar chasis and looks? -Confused
There are two types. One are RUF tuned (like TechArt of Gembella), but the other are the "original" RUFs... RUF is considered as a manufacturer, not a tuner. If you have an original RUF, you don't register your car as Porsche, but as RUF. The original RUFs are built ground up at RUF facility in Germany, and the only thing that is common with Porsche is the chassis and some small parts here and there (headlights, air-conditioning, etc.). They come with RUF VIN #., no Porsche signs anywhere, and no Porsche warranatees. Some of the original RUF Turbos can cost up to $380,000 (after the customs crap, shipping, etc.) in the U.S., but most RUFs you'll see in the U.S. are Porsches with RUF aftermarket parts.
Yeah. I thought you posted them. I guess not. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=281921
Wished I went... nice pics. BTW, for respect of the owners, I would blur out the license plate tags. Michael.
There's a subtle difference. Let me ask you this: would you mind if I took pics of your spouse or g/f and posted the pics online in a completely different board that you may not necessarily know about? Some people don't want the added attention of having their license plates posted online, while others live for the attention and could care less. Yes, license plates are viewable by the public, but that does not necessarily mean the owner does not wish to remain private. Personally, I could care less if my tags are posted online, but, then again, I don't own a Ferrari or RUF. Michael.
Weird analogy but ok...If she was a flashy girl and I had her out with a group of other hot girls, and they were all making a public appearance together, say at a bikini show, then yes, I would expect people to take pictures. And just what do you think people are going to do with these tag numbers anyway? Exotic car owners have a bad enough stereotyped reputation without acting all paranoid about some stupd tag number.
With a tag number I can get the owner, their address, who else lives at that address, their ages and driver license numbers, what other cars are at that address, their telephone number..... and that's in about 15 minutes. It's not hard. That's the difference. On the street, you might pass a looney who may happen to write down your number. On the Internet, there are loonies, and they don't even have to write the number down. I personally know of a Texas guy with a Ferrari who was falsely accused of a hit and run in another state, using the license plate of his car that had been posted. Fortunately there was conclusive evidence that he was in his home state at the time, but it was still a hassle for him that could have been avoided.
