What an awesome day. I went out to MSR this morning for the RUF / PCA club event. The rainfall was steady all day but that didn't prevent the cars from getting out on the track. The highlights of the event was checking out all the RUF cars & meeting the man himself, Alois Ruf Jr. The funny thing was I got some flack from some of the PCA members posing with Alois wearing my Ferrari cap. Go figure. There were some Fchatters roaming the paddock, here’s some photos of today’s event.

    Thanks Jim

Yes it is, 500+ hp of German SUV goodness. I'm sure Writerguy can post better photos than mine & add some insight to all the vehicles.

Will - thanks for posting the photos - they are beautiful. Sounded like a fun day despite the rain.

Some of those PCA folks are a little insecure about their brands vs. other brands...

Good to see you, Will, What a crappy day it was yesterday. YUCK. And I had 2 students who, bless their hearts, each drove all 4 sessions in the rain.

Flawlessly, I might add, with nary a wheel off, despite the record 56 spins yesterday!

Today it dried up &, while cool, was a lot more fun!

PS: I finally met Jim Muise of Texas Driver Magazine! NICE guy!!!

I heard once it started raining many cars didn't go out. Lapping in the dry is about a 3 on a fun scale of 10. Lapping in the rain is a 10!

Actually, contrary to the typical, the vast majority of the Green & Blue students went out (with instructors). The vast majority of the Yellow & Red advanced students didn't. Might have been a tire issue, as many of the more advanced folks, as well as most of the instructors, were running R-compounds or slicks, and with all the standing water, well, it would not have been pretty.

it was good seeing you out there solipsist!

anyways, the silver cayenne is a 550 horsepower conversion. yeah, personally, i think it should be illegal for 5200 lbs to move like that without being airborn. it flat out hauls.

the red is a 1987 RUF Slantnose Cab. it was built at the factory in Pfaffenhausen (so the VIN starts with W09 instead of WP0). 375 hp and its favorite past time is driving sideways.

the yellow beast is a CTR 2 Sport. the sport model is a widebody version of the CTR 2. that particular one has raced pikes peak several times, 1 lap of america, and several other things. it has "580" hp...plus about 120-130.

the burnt orange car is a 2001 RGT. basically a 2001 GT3 with a little more power (370) but the unique thing about that particular one is it is AWD.

there arent any pictures of it, but there was also a dark blue Rturbo conversion there to. it has 550 hp as well. H.P. Lieb (Mark Lieb's father, head engineer at RUF Automobile GmbH) would keep it sideways down the entire front straight at MSR.

and lastly, if you look closely you can see my beast of a car. a black 1995 acura integra :D

I would call it good natured ribbing but some of the Porsche guys act like they have a stick up their arse when it comes to performance cars.
