Question for the community. Today while watching the race, I noticed under braking down the main straight on an in car camera of Hamilton his steering column appeared to move slightly. Did anyone else notice this? Is there a version of DAS that is now allowed under the 2025 rules? The steering wheel appeared to move closer to Lewis when braking occurred.

I believe that system has been removed and deemed unlawful by the FIA.

2021 rules as you can see they added the rule in pink to ban DAS (page 65) https://www.fia.com/sites/default/files/2021_formula_1_technical_regulations_-_iss_5_-_2020-06-19_1.pdf

I’ll be interested to see what comes up if anything. The movement of the column wasn’t as obvious as the Mercs, but it definitely moved.

Well... it was deemed illegal as soon as Merc was seen using it... but it was Mercedes so they let them use it all year anyway. Will Ferrari get the same exemption now that they have Hamilton? Who knows!

I just watched some in car footage. Maybe I'm not looking at you are but I didn't really see any movement like what we saw before. Could be wrong.

I can try to find the particular footage again. Hopefully someone else notices it as well. Maybe I’m just nuts. I paused it and replayed it several times for my girlfriend and she definitely noticed it as well.

I remember seeing the same thing and had the same thought. I can't recall exactly when it happened, however.

I’m glad someone else noticed it. It was at the end of one of the main straights under braking.
