IIRC there have been a few rumors that have come out of this german paper, does anyone think that this one holds any merit. You'd think we'd get a formal "I'm not coming back to Ferrari" before we started hearing rumors like this.

Don't see how this will be good for Scuderia Ferrari.

It doesn't really matter at this point. They aren't gonna have him this year regardless.

Don't you think that at 52 he's just wanting to put his feet up and retire?

Surely he has a nice lifestyle now and all :).

I've actually read that he wanted a new challenge. He might not be ready to retire, the McLaren thing might not be too far fetched.

i don't see RB goin to mac, williams, spyker, renault or wherever as their technical engineer or whatver his post was at Ferrari. He said himself in the past, that he can't work with any other driver after schumi.

i see him going after JT's former role tho.

Supposedly, he’ll be back in 08. A year off for personal reasons.

This rumor doesn't make any sense.

Why would Ron Dennis divest himself of his McLaren interest to take a controlling stake in a customer team? Dennis is a control freak and ProDrive is going to be beholden to McLaren. I can't see him doing this.

On the other hand, I can see him selling out his interests, he has discussed doing this in several interviews, and going onto a managerial role in F1 administration, perhaps challenging Mosley for his position.

The one thing I do suspect is that Ross Brawn is exploring oppoerunities with teams other than Ferrari. His statement about talking with Ferrari first because of all they have done for him sounds to me in F1-Speak as he is not returning to the team. Had he issued a categorical denial that he is contemplating going to a team other than Ferrari, that is one thing, but to hedge himself by saying he would talk to Ferrari first sounds to me like he has something in the works elsewhere.

I have a feeling that Brawns loyalties lay with Schumacher first and the team second. A Schumacher-less Ferrari team is probably less attractive to him, especially if the old political tensions are heating up again within the team.

The Ron Dennis rumor sounds like a load of Hogwash. I agree that RB probably will take Todt's Role at Ferrari or a slight chance he becomes a High Profile Technical Director at McLaren and works with Alonso.

Mercedes doesn't have majority control and I am not sure they could simply force Dennis out against his will.

They don't need to because they could make his life unbearable by simply calling it quits with him and his team. If Merc really tried, I bet Dennis would rather cash in his chips than try to find a new sugardaddy. The sport has changed. Look what has happened to Williams...

    Of course I'm just speculating.

What about outside of F1 and racing all together?, that would be new challenge. Remember Newy wanted to leave F1 and design racing yachts ...

Williams Engineering is basically the race team and that's it, they have no other line of business.

McLaren is a huge enterprise, muh more than just the team. I seriously doubt Mercedes would pull out, they own 40% of the team after all, and I doubt even more that Dennis would have difficulty lining up a replacement manufacturer if they did.

This is not exactly true. The group employs less than 1,000 employees, 40% of whom work for McLaren Racing. For example DaimlerChrysler has more than 380,000 employees. Now that is huge.

How many different businesses run under the Mclaren banner? According to your number 60% of the firm, over 600 people, are NOT engaged in the F1 team. They have an electronics company and the exotic car business in addition to the GP team at a minimum. I am sure I am forgetting some of their other business pursuits.
