I've got wind of a Trofeo edition of the GranSport is likely going to come out. Production limited to 250 or so worldwide and will be conceptually like the Stradale in that extensive use of carbon fiber will be used to lighten the car, no rear seats..etc. I hear the name of it will be called GranSport "MC".

    Anyone else hear of this??

    Hmmm....
Well, if theres no rear seats, that means theres no chance of getting rid of our GS for a "MC".

Isn't the GS already a "Stradele" Version of the 4200Coupe?
Coupe is to GS, as 360M is to 360CS

There is no weight savings to the GranSport that I'm aware of over the regular coupe. If any, its probably insignificant.

With the "MC" version, their apparently looking to take a few hundred pounds out of it. I haven't been told that, but I'm putting 2 and 2 together and thats what I'm thinking. For paper racers, you can count on dropping a few tenths off the 0-60mph time with the extra weight savings. Needless to say, it will be a little bit more hardcore than the GranSport.

I'm actually glad this happened, because when I did the owner survey after I purchased my GSport, this was one of the things I requested, to either make the car a little bit more sportier or make a different model thats more "Trofeo" like, so apparantly I'm not the only customer that requested that. When and if it finally gets the green light for production, I'll be there.

i guess they really want to extend the life of the current chassis since the new coupe/spyder is so mysterious and not arriving soon.

not bad for the brand, to create something even more raw to celebrate its racing efforts recently.

bad for the some of the GS owners... like lung said, the GS is already the coupe to get now. good for those who wants the best, or to trade up again.

I swore I remember looking at the 2005 brochure and seeing that the GS weighed a few more pounds than the regular coupe. Anyone else seen that?

The coupe weight is usually listed as two numbers; manual and Cambio. The Coupe's curb weight in Cambio form is 1680kg...same as the GS. Spyder Cambio is 1730kg. Source is from the MY2005 book.

    It is all relative.
    Compared to an F40, no.
Compared to a mini van, yes.

eh, TeamF1Jr said "conceptually like the Stradale in that extensive use of carbon fiber will be used to lighten the car, no rear seats..etc."

if they build a strip out GS with extensive use of CF like the CS then it is extreme, compare to the standard coupe and GS.

Now the guess will be price. With the GranSport base price at $98K, at least thats what is was on mine when I got it fall of last year, I'm thinking at least 20-30% more. I hope they go with a Trofeo like exhaust, not sure if you heard those cars before in the flesh, but its absolutely brutal. Michael Schumacher drove one around at the first USGP and it was louder than the 360 Challenge cars easy.
