http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/20/rumormill-ex-ferrari-ceo-jean-todt-for-fia-president/ I wonder if any of the tifosi complaining about a McLaren-sourced ECU being an unfair advantage would also complain about the ex-Ferrari team boss becoming FIA President?
I'm sure it would be received with some suspicion, but in all honesty I think most of the team bosses would perfer someone as rational and forward thinking as JT as opposed to that socialist Max. It would probably be the only time Max got Ron Dennis' vote to stay, though.
This makes sense with in light of the current resignation. He probably was looking for more from F then Luca was willing to give so he opted for "other options" such as this.
Would anyone of us complain about, say, Gerhard Berger becoming FIA president? No, although he's been linked with several teams over the past years. It has to be someone from the business, so an ex-team manager is the most likely option. It would only become ... strange if Ron Dennis got the job after the spy scandal...
Jean Todt said today that he informed Luca of his intention to resign in March 2008 as far back as early 2004. He added that he shall stay for a year or two as special adviser to Luca, that he is not going to buy STR and that he is not running for the FIA's presidency.
