Just when you think things can´t get worse: Volkswagen 'allowed torture' under Brazil military rule - BBC News There is a rule in comedy: two tragedies together are a joke.
I don't know in what world you are living, but I think you are deluded if tou think people at the top feel any guilt or embarassement when they are sacked by large corporations because or mis-management, fraud or else. There is no sense of honour anymore and people have no shame these days. Don't you see it, or are you blind to it? We have the case here of several CEOs of large banks that defaulted because of mis-management, getting the push with a golden handshake of several millions, and within a year there are on the board of large companies! Or another CEO of a large company being sued for sexual offense, losing his job after being sentenced, and being recruited later by a rival company after serving his sentence! I believe in the States, you had a a mayor convicted for narcotic abuse and running to be re-elected, didn't you? And more ... So, tell me where is the fear of damaging one's reputation in that? As an aside, I think many people at VW will take a dive, even if they had nothing to do with the dodgy software. People at the top will do quite well out of it, those at the bottom of the ladder will pay the price. BTW, Winterkorn is 66, which is already retirement age. Do you think he mind to leave a bit early?
I'm deluded because I believe that people that have worked their way to the top of a major corporation value their reputation? All I can say is, ok? I think many people are hypocrites and scumbags personally, but there are still good people out there. I personally know three people that were forced out of companies for large amounts of money and were furious and miserable as a result. One was a top executive at a company here in Pittsburgh and received millions (now worth tens of millions) to retire. "Golden parachute" as they say. He was furious because he wanted to continue, didn't think it was fair, and was also conscious of how it reflected on his reputation and how he would not be able to get another job as a result - he didn't. The incoming CEO simply didn't like him. Another was out-voted in a buy-out of a major insurance firm in NY and walked away with 50M US for his chunk of the partnership. He was furious at the other partners because he loved his job and didn't want to be associated with the acquiring company. He left after the acquisition and was miserable until he got some of his own things going again. The third was involved in an affair with an employee - CEO of a major corporation here as well. He fought the board on the dismissal and the whole incident caused him great distress personally. 2 of these guys were in their 60s, the insurance guy in his late 40s at the time. I also know two other CEOs here in Pittsburgh that run companies valued at over 20 and 40B US respectively. Both of them would be devastated by such an incident. They live here, not in a bubble with their money. Their kids go to school here, they are on boards of other companies, they are involved in the arts, charity, etc. Money isn't everything; especially to these kind of guys that are already 10,20,30+ millionaires. The government, in general, especially at the city level in the US is a running joke to anyone with a pulse. You can't compare it to large corporations where people are actually held accountable by shareholders and institutional investors. Yes, I think Winterkorn is likely mad as hell, but I don't know him personally - just many like him. You don't get to the top of a major German corporation like that without being an axe-murder of an executive IMHO. If he isn't, then he probably was not fit to lead them anyway.
Source please? I've checked "my" usual sites and aren't seeing any reports as yet anyway. Cheers, Ian
Nonsense. Marko and Horner both looked worried today; Marko said on the BBC talks will continue this week and hoped to have news in Sotsji. Trouble is, they want the same engine Ferrari has.
How's that working out for them? Red Bull publicly denounced their only power-unit supplier without having a backup plan.
Source: Me.... an old friend of Fchat. Hope you are all well. How's tifosi12 and NeuroBeaker doing? ahhh.. I am going to get into hot water again for this.
Hey, thanks for asking. Not too much going on this year with F1. The predictability of it all got to me. I like Hamilton but there really isn't much drama anymore. I'm hoping next year will be more entertaining/mixed/less predictable although I'm not so sure. Also lost my source at Ferrari. The person no longer works there so I don't have any good inside views anymore. And my fav journo Benoit went into retirement. He writes occasionally some race report but you can tell his links have been severed, there are no more inside stories coming from him either. Heck, even my trip to the Belgium GP was a bit anticlimatic: That was such a low key event, it was kinda sad and pathetic. The track is killer but not much atmosphere around it. There was more life in Valencia. Hard to believe, I know. So as I said: Hoping for next year. I'll go to the Canadian GP. The folks in Montreal know how to throw a party, so that should bring the much needed spark back into my F1 passion, which currently is lacking.

Good to hear... Singapore was the highlight for me. Seb was fantastic. The car this year does so well in hot and humid conditions. They really have done something with the cooling and aero package. Have some faith things are looking a lot more positive and the gap would have been a lot less had Seb's Pirellis held up at Spa. Hamilton is a good driver in a great car.... He beats Roseberg so he is better then him... it is a fact. I have learnt to control my opinion about Hamilton. Just note this... Senna is Senna. Drivers can remind you of Senna but Senna had 41 wins from 161 GPs. The closest one to Senna on the track today is SV with 42 wins from 153 GPs. Sorry Hamilton fans your boy has 41 wins from 162 GPs... took him one more than Senna. Courtesy of Seb and Ferrari dialing it in Singapore. Coming back to topic... Red Bull Alfa Romeo Rebadged Ferrari 2015 Engines for their 2016 car. Torro Rosso might be involved in that deal too but I cannot confirm the TR part. Mercedes are not going to supply Red Bull. They want VW group and Red Bull to suffer at the hands of diesel gate and Renault's hubris. This is some sick German boardroom politics at play and all doors for Red Bull lead to Maranello. Big Bird Bernie called Dietrich's bluff last week and pretty much said sure walk out but you still owes us xyz Euros and you wont get abc Euros prize money. I wont return to Fchat for another few days or weeks... but Happy racing guys. Sochi will be epic!!! FORZA FERRARI!!!!
If a person like Dietrich wanted to walk out of F1. He would have done it without threatening. When you are DM and you want to walk out... you just walk out. Believe me this is a done deal... Red Bull Rebadged Ferrari 2015 (Alfa Romeo) Engines with all tokens used in 2016.
Analysis: Is it game over for Red Bull in F1? Analysis: Is it game over for Red Bull in F1? - Formula 1 News
Soda can has wanted out for some time but he couldn't sell the team because Noone wants in to f1 . Can man has been trying to find a main sponsor for several years to help support the team even winning all those championships he could not find a sponsor to buy some of the car space. Ferrari in a special place because they get 50 million just for being ferrari. F1 is dead just next year at the mid mid season break Honda will pull out
Well this just in... "According to CNNMoney, the financial service holding company Credit Suisse estimated today that the cost of the VW diesel emissions scandal could amount to about $86 billion." That's right folks, that's with "B"
Gee I hope that the Alfa Romeo name is not slapped on the Ferrari F1 engines. I know Alfa Romeo doesn't really exist anymore, and the road cars run FIAT/Maserati engines, but as an Alfista this will make me really sad. Pete
