In an attempt to track down the origin of my rear brake noise I was thinking of trying too run the car with both rear wheels of the ground. Is this possible ?
Will the traction control/stability management detect lack of front wheel rotation and cause all sort of trouble.

You might stress your CV / axle joints, running the car with the suspension totally extended. As Gh21631 says above, try turning things by hand first (slowly).

Also, on your other thread, I believe I suggested going through the re-bedding in process for brake pads. Have you tried that yet? It's worked for others who have had this same issue.

    Ray,
Thanks for the advice. I intend to jack the rear up and turn discs by hand under close inspection. Here is what I know so far.

It is not the front brakes; new pads fitted last week, dealer bedded them in and they are free of any noise. Brakes have real bite now. Some noise and frequency persists.
The noise is periodic with wheel rotation and from the rear (hard to tell if it is just from one side only): suggests one spot where contact is being made, not tyres as these are also new.
Noise goes away on light application of the brakes ; so points way from the parking brake (EPB)
Noise persistent under very light throttle and rolling in neutral.
The brakes need to be up to temperature; suggests expansion related, points away from a bearing or run out on the disc
Rear brake pads reported to be about 20% worn on inspection by dealer
Does not do it rolling backward ; not sure what this means but must be a significant clue
All the holes in the brake discs front and rear cleaned out.

So in a few weeks plan a close inspection on the rear, look for any tell tail contact marks, take rear main pads out clean up and lubricate all surfaces. Might disconnect and remove the EPB just to eliminate that possibility. Look at the chamfer on the rear pads.

    Here's a suggestion.

    Use this the following way.
    https://products.liqui-moly.com/brake-anti-squeal-3.html

Remove your rear brake discs and clean the hub flanges as well as the inner mounting flanges of the rotor hats. Apply a thin layer of the paste to the hub flanges.

While the discs are off wipe them down with a 50/50 mix of demineralised water and isopropyl alcohol. Note that this is something I've been told by both Brembo and Surface Transforms is the right way to clean the discs.

Before reinstalling everything, remove the pads and apply the paste to the contact points of the pistons and where else the pad is in contact with the caliper and springs.
