Can anybody provide insight into the running costs of a 430 Challenge car vs a 458 Challenge car. Apart from the difference in the price of the car, is the 458C significantly more expensive to run and maintain for 8-10 track days a season, for example? I know the gearbox is fundamentally different.

Also, I would assume it easier to get 458C parts as that is the current car, but is it already difficult to get parts for the 430C?

    Thank you.

the only thing I know is getting parts for 430c is relatively easy. I've ordered a bunch of 430c and 360c parts ( some of them are identical to street versions, some of them are not)
parts I ordered include all oil hoses and water hoses, all regular maintenance parts like clutch, tob, rims, a-arms, a shock, all suspension bushings, various engine gaskets. etc etc . I've yet to rebuild an engine. but last time I asked the vendor he said he can have 430 pistons and 360 pistons in 1 week.

Never let down. for 458, i don't know, but I assume its easy as well, as you said, its newer car.

edit. I ordered parts from a european vendor, lead time is usually 1-2 weeks.

That is great information, thank you very much.

I'd heard the 458C series has mandated gearbox replacements every few races. Is that true? I'm not a huge fan of DCT gearboxes for racecars, although I believe even the new Cayman GT4 racecar has a PDK.

    That is not true.

We ran several cars in 2015 without replacing driveline componants. They have proven to be quite reliable...

FWIW , actual running cost are close to the same, it's what experience you are wanting at the track that can make the difference.

If you are ok running out of a featherlite 28' pulled behind a dually

recently put up an order and only 1 part they had a problem

    part # 179070

and here's what the vendor said: "ferrari currently have problems with these as the put 430 bearing in the 360 boxes. And they don't work the same "
