Guys Sometimes when I start my 2004 360 it runs on 4 cylinders. I turn it off and then back on and all 8 cylinders kick in. Any ideas on what's going on here ? Thanks
Yes, this can happen. Don't panic. There is nothing wrong with the car. What you've done wrong is to not hold down the start button long enough until the engine started, or pressed the start button before the lights on the dash go off. You need to give it a few seconds before you press the start button Yes, it will seem like it's running on 4. Just turn it off and restart as normal. There is nothing that can be done to it to make this go away except just start it correctly.
I used to get this about every third or fourth start on my F430, but after driving it a lot the issue basically went away. When I would start it and hear it on 4 cyl, I would immediately shut it down and restart it and it would always come up on 8. I also had CE lights with misfire on cyl X where cyl x was 1-8 about once a week, that also went away after time. I think the car had been a garage queen and needed to be driven a bit, not scientific, but thats my theory. One other thing I changed was to keep the battery topped off with the battery tender to make sure my starts were at full voltage. Also more information on if it just started or is getting worse might be helpful. Let us know what resolves your issue.
Trent and Bdelp, Thanks for the input. I feel much better and will take your advice. I'll let you know of the outcome.
Yep, I know that. I didn't see the OP mention his car was a CS though. I was having a slight dig at Bdelp.
LOL, I was rolling on the floor with that one too. All this time I have been starting my car incorrectly, yet it still runs on all 8 cylinders.
Happened to me today for the 1st time in my F430. It was after I didn't hold the start button down very long. Ran really weak. Stopped, restarted it and all was great!
