I changed the oil cooler upper hose and everything seemed fine. Now she is running rough and there is a smell of fuel in the exhaust. No leaks that I can find. Can anyone assist me with this. The car was running perfect until yesterday when I parked it and changed the oil hose. The only thing I did was disconnect the coolant hoses right above the oil cooler. Any thoughts ???

It might help if you tell us what automobile you are talking about...I have to assume it's some type of Ferrari. If all you say is true, you might have knocked something off/loose by accident...:(

You say the car was running perfect until yesterday. Wasn't there a problem that was acting like a lost bank? I had a similar issue with unburned fuel and it was caused by a warm up regulator issue. Since your other problem is intermittent, you may want to check the hoses and connectors in the vicinity of the fuel distributor.

The original post was yesterday evening about loss of power and then coming back. This one is about running rich. I am guessing there is a relationship. Something that showed up after replacing an oil cooler hose.
Yesterday we suggested that one of the banks might be dropping. If you lose a bank, you WILL get unburned fuel going through to the exhaust.....just a thought.

Thank you. What would be the cause to lose a banks and how do you get it back ?

Usually a bank is lost because of ignition problems. Coincidentally, much of the ignition stuff is located right near the oil cooler hose you replaced. You should start by checking the wiring around the 2 coils, the 2 distributors, etc. Also, there is a vacuum hose that goes back to the ECUs in the rear drivers side corner.

Hmmmm, there is a harness plug right below to top oil hose. There was a few drops of oil on the harness after I switched the hose. Could the oil drops have done something. There are no blown fuses or anything.

There are 2 harness connectors right above the wheel well near the oil cooler. Not sure what effect oil would have, but I would think they need to be clean and well seated. wouldn't hurt to clean and make sure everything is tight. Given that all of the stuff is within inches of where you were working yesterday, I would find it likely that your problem lies there somewhere.

Today I cleaned both harness plugs with electro wash and the car started up great. No fuel smell. I'll have to keep an eye on it. Thanks for all the help. :)
