At least thats what the check engine light is saying. Popping at idle thru one bank, seems lean to me................ I checked the O2 semsors, seem to be working correctly, I have 2, is this correct? Checked coil wires. I do not have any catalyst wires going to cats. Checked for tapping at each injector, hear clicking on each, some more faint then others but still there. Should I narrow down what cylinder it is by means of a heat sensor gun? Also, noise in cooling system, I bleed it twice, seems to be getting better, keep bleeding?, are these a pain? 92 Diablo
bleeding the cooling system is a long process. Which bank is running rich? Check the coolant sensor. it might be going bad, and sending the wrong message to your ECU.
Hey topcarbon, I just seen you on lambo talk............lol. Left bank running rich. So you mean keep bleeding? For how many times? I dont see an other bleed valves other than the two on the coolant pipes under the heat sheild, is there more? Whats with the coolant sensor, are you saying it may be faulty and telling the computer its still cold? Is there a value of ohms that would check these? It looks like I have two. Is there another way to clear the codes beside messing with computer? I would rather leave the jumping of terminals alone..................
I had a faulty coolant sensor that was telling the computer I was cold. THere fore the car would run rich (on the left bank) and bog. These engines are simple yet complex. Could be a faulty coil going bad. Best thing to do is to switch and diagnose. If the problem goes to the other side, you know you found the problem.
What about clearing old codes? Was that you who posted the 400 cycles with the key thing? I will try your suggestions, they sound good, fingers crossed..................
best way to clear codes is to use a three prong jumper http://www.lamboweb.com/Repairs_Section/Diablo/Repairs_Reset_LIE_Computer.htm
Swapped coolant sensors, no change. When I swap coils , do I have to also swap the connector going to it? I think so, now that I took another peek, I swapped just the coil wires that go to the distributor cap and the car would not run. Did a check with a lazer temp probe on each exhaust pipe as close to the block as possible, one bank at about 250 - 275F, the other about 550 - 585F.
Tested coils, swapped, no change. Suspecting cat. Tested fuel rail pressure on bad bank, 25PSI. Low............I think it should be closer to 45PSI. I did not get a chance to check other rail, to see if its the same or closer to spec. Could the 25PSI mean the fuel injectors on that bank are leaking? Fuel filter? Fuel pump? Remember I am getting a rich condition on that banks cel, also getting popping backfire through that banks exhaust. Today I will check the other fuel rail, check vacuume for clogged cats, and swap computers..............if I get to all of it.
