Finally saw the movie yesterday, very impressed. My wife and daughter also thought is was a very good film. While I recall the crash at the time, I did not follow F1 and had no real idea of the story or rivalry. An amazing bit of film making.

What book is recommended on the topic?

I found Shunt to be a very good read. It discusses Hunt's career, and although it doesn't focus on the Hunt/Lauda rivalry specifically, it does provide some great insight into Hunts life.

saw it yesterday with my two (19,21) sons
I think we all were pretty impressed.

comparing the guys in that era with the current generation:

the cuttent drivers must have big balls. The size of the balls of the guys than makes me wonder how on earth they fitted those cars:):)

don't get me wrong, I never folllowed F1 for the crashes, the opposite is true actually, but F1 changed just too much.

One of the best movies I've seen in years. Ron Howard just knows how to get it done....Loved it and I look forward to seeing it again.

SPOILER ALERT !!!!!! (Don't read anymore if you don't want to see the punch line from one of the scenes)

Favorite line is when Lauda tests the Ferrari and comes out complaining. The mechanic tells him: "Hey, it's a Ferrari!" he responds: "It's a piece of Sheet!"

Again, the real story was better: Enzo Ferrari told Lauda that, as he seemed to know so well what was the problem with the car, he had one week to lap Fiorano 1 second faster or he was fired.

Lauda and Forghieri managed to do that. Actually Lauda said that it was quite easy.

Remember, there's another thread about the movie on this forum for "spoiler" items to be posted.

As for a book, I found "Rush to Glory" (a retitled paperback edition of a book previously released as "In the Name of Glory") to be a very good read.
