Doing a major service on Ferrari P 4/5 by Pininfarina. Note rust in suspension. When you drive them in the snow **** happens...

WD 40 clean and paint and all is good once more.

Basically we take everything apart, inspect and repair regularly. IMO if you do these cars can last forever.

If you don't they go away quickly.

As Neil sang "Rust never sleeps".

I drive them until they spray salt which is very nasty stuff. If I lived where they didn't spray salt I'd use them in the winter.

To be honest i didn't expect to see rust in this car because it's a new construction and the materials are different from those in late 70s/80s/90s.
But as you said "Rust never sleeps".

No car is rust free, even brand new cars can get it. Seen so many especially here with corrosion on the suspension. Thanks for making people aware Jim. Every body thinks that cause a cars aluminium etc it wouldn't be prone to rust.

What kills me are those paint sealer and rust sealer they say that they will apply to your brand new car, it's a load of crap, no such thing.

True and all of ours are never put away wet and are always in a heated/humidity controlled garage.

That's really neat that you take the cars apart regularly to inspect/clean/maintain them. Seems like good fun and/or a good stress reliever.

I am curious Jim if a few extra coat's of rust protection could be applied in that area? Also may I assume that there is a rubber grommet/cap for that A-arm (control arm or wishbone)? Bare with me because I am shooting blindly but does the lip has enough height for an oversized cap that can be sealed from the outside with a T-clamp? I realize this approach does not negate proper care yet it could raise the protection by a few percentage points.

It looks like water would just sit in there. Definitely a problem area to keep an eye on.

Have looked at our Enzo some time ago.

No problems there, and driven in the rain sometimes. There was just some roaddust.

It's a good idea to strip all cars down, clean, inspect and renew various things especially as we expose them to much more force than they get in the Enzo. (Much more tire)

Also good piece of mind to have that the car is mechanically perfect before driving again.
