The Philadelphia Inquirer June 20--Jackass star Ryan Dunn, known for his gross-out, daredevil stunts on the MTV reality show, was killed in a car crash along Route 322 early this Monday, West Goshen Township police said. Dunn, 34, of West Chester, was driving his Porsche 911 GT3 near the road's intersection with Pottstown Pike just after 2:30 a.m. when it veered off the road, careening into a wooded area. The vehicle burst into flames, severely burning both Dunn and his passenger, according to a statement issued by officers. Investigators were able to identify Dunn through his tattoos and hair, but so far the identity of the second person has not been determined, police said. Autopsies are scheduled for later Monday. It remains unclear whether alcohol played a role in the wreck. Dunn appears to have posted a photo of himself drinking with friends on his Twitter account less than two hours before the collision. "Preliminary investigation revealed that speed may have been a contributing factor to the accident," the police statement said. Dunn, 34, moved to West Chester as a teen, and was part of the crazy-stunt crew on MTV's Jackass series from 2000 to 2002, then in various Jackass films. In the first one -- Jackass: The Movie -- Dunn performed a memorable stunt involving a toy car, a condom, his rectum, and a trip to a doctor's office involving x-rays. Jackass was created when Johnny Knoxville joined forces with Bam Magera, a pro skateboarder from West Chester, who had a group of stuntsters, including Dunn, called the CKY Crew -- for "Camp Kill Yourself." Dunn also played himself in other reality shows, including Viva La Bam, Homewrecker and Commando VIP, according to imdb.com.
He sent friends a pic of drinking in a bar then left in the early morning hours and allegedly was doing 120 mph in his Porsche GT3. Lost control, flew 100 feet through the air and burnt to a crisp.
would have thought they would have slowed it down a bit by now. steve o next? still sad...albeit predictable. rip
i'll be the ass.. he deserved it. thank god he didn't involve an innocent party next fool please.......
Dude was loaded, drivin a race car like an bunghole, killed himself and someone else. Be thankful his irresponsibility didn't end YOUR life or anyone else that you love.I have many close friends that I consider family that reside too close to that idiot & his cronies.Im thankful no one I know was hurt inadvertently by his wrecklessness.Anyone that got in the car with him knew well & good what he was about.I'd been sh@ttin in my pants with him driving SOBER.
The passenger was his friend who'd been drinking with him at the bar, he was fully aware that Ryan was over the limit and still chose to ride with him. A real tragedy and surely a painful death that neither of them deserved. Rest in piece.
It pains me to think off this. On both ends I would be sick if it were my family. I think we all have friends that did, or still do things like this, and even though they should all know better, they all seem like harmless kids, with no bad intentions, more of a thirst for living.
The passenger was a production assistant who was newly married and a war veteran. It's sad that Dunn made a number of stupid decisions leading up to the crash that killed this passenger.
Unfortunately these 2 lives are lost forever. I must say that this is one of the first times I've heard of a Porsche catching fire. I know the Ferraris and Lambos go up in flames more often than not. It is rare that a Porsche, Mercedes or BMW catch fire. Maybe something along the lines of the fuel tank being so close to the engine.
Well, I guess he didn't learn in 2005 when he got his first DUI...that program he had to complete to clear his record really worked like a charm. No sympathy for either party in the car. I feel better that drivers like this are off the road permanently. Its a shame for the passengers wife, though. Apparently, they recently got married and he was an Iraq war vet. I am just making assumptions here, but having your boyfriend, fiancee or whatever he was at the time overseas serving must be pretty tough. Now, he comes home to safety, ready to start their life together and then this...that's sad.
Seriously. There is no way you can blame the car for hitting a tree at that speed. People are going to be severely hurt. The officer who spotted the wreckage said it was the worst wreck he'd ever seen even if it didn't catch fire. They have to wait for the toxilogical results but there are photos of him heavily drinking just 2 hours before. Whatever caused it, may he rest in peace.
Has anyone checked on Louis Hamilton's whereabouts at the time? He was recently in the vicinity for the seat swap...
Jesus the man posts a picture of himself drinking with friends hours before and now some of you guys are glad that he died? How freaking cold are you? Everyone makes mistakes and no one was there to know how many (or few) drinks he had. You could get killed driving a Porsche sober at 50 mph let alone 130. This was a tragedy and both of these guys were too young to go out. Even if he was completely ****faced does one stupid decision erase all the good things he's ever done? I don't even know the guy and I'm appalled at some of the responses in here.
New report today says he was twice the legal limit. The passenger he killed was a former Navy Seal and childhood friend.
