Hi again I decided to have a look at my distributor as I am aware they are prone to wear in the advance mechanism. The car is a 78 euro 308 GTB running a single S127G distributor (2 sets of points, one for each bank). I have graphs of the advance curve for both the 159 and the 127 distributor and have access to a machine to spin distributor and plot the curve. My question is: What is the original spring setup for each distributor. I have seen 4 spring units and three spring units. I believe the 159 distributor came standard with 4 springs (please correct me if i'm wrong) and the 127 distributor had 3 springs, again not sure and hence seeking clarity on this issue. (or did they all come with 4?) I realise that the final setup depends on spring preload etc and needs to be done on the machine but the number of springs used from factory surely would have had a standard setup. There are informative threads on distributors here but none have answered this question directly. Best Regards DIFAZ
Both have 4 spring assemblies. I've got fairly detailed info on what goes where down at the shop. PM me your email and I'll send it off to you. That will give you a *starting* point. Access to a machine will get you where you need to be. Rob
