I was dropping someone off at a Honda dealership to pick up their car when I saw a tiny convertible in the service bay. I have never seen a Honda S600, it was very cool! It looked like a very original car, well used, maybe repainted once upon a time. I wish I'd had my camera with me. It had arabic plates on the front. Anybody ever had one? Driven one? (This isn't the car I saw, these are just pictures I pulled from teh intarweb. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
First Honda car offered in two trims Engine capacity 606 cc Horse power: 57 at 8500 rpm Top speed: 90 mph Redline: 9,500 RPM Carburetors: 4 Convertible weight: 1576 pounds First "mass marketed" Honda car 11,284 built between '64 and '66 Well..at least it looks decent..... There was also an S800 that replaced this.
These are very neat technically... actually have chain drive! Both them and the S800 (which went to a more conventional shaft drive pretty quickly because the chain was having difficulties with the increased power) are highly sought after by collectors... especially valuable in Japan. Bill
I've driven a Coupe, like so. It's a bit strange driving a car that will rev over 9000 rpm, but has very little power. The one I drove had very badly aged tires on it, so I only took it around the block a few times. And it smoked badly. Image Unavailable, Please Login
