Only read this if you guy's have time, it is very interesting to read about towns just shrinking smaller and smaller. This story almost seems fake..

Sounds like areas all over the Northeast who haven't found something to move on to after steel left. The city I grew up in had at least 5 large steel based factories or casters and plenty of heavy industry, I think only one of them remains and only call centers have moved in to replace them. People just aren't skilled to move up, but they can't compete with Asia and South America on manufacturing costs.

I live in that part of the county. I doubt it is fake. Almost all of West Virginia is very poor.

I didn't really think it was, but I guess living in California you don't really hear stories like that too often..

Newport Beach probably has somewhat of a 'distorted' reality! ;)

That's like my mom's hometown in Korea. I went there last summer... she tells me lots of stories about when there were a bunch of kids there, everybody going to school, but now nobody wants to be a farmer so everybody's moving to the cities and the villages are shrinking and all the elderly people are passing on. The elementary school was closed a few years ago. It's really sad, especially since they are such peaceful pretty villages.

Hey, I don't blame you. If I lived in such a nice place I wouldn't think about the outside world either!
