If any of you remember the young kid i had videotaping in my car on the running of the bulls earlier this year. He is in critical condition in the hospital since saturday.

Story is below quoted from the newspaper

Car hits gas station attendant in head

    Monday, August 16, 2004

ALLENDALE - A gas station attendant was airlifted to a hospital after a minivan struck him, pinning his head between a metal barrier and the vehicle's bumper, authorities said.

Joe Sabino, 20, of Allendale, was working at the Getty station on Myrtle Avenue about 11:15 a.m. Saturday when he bent over to clean the edge of a pump island. A 2003 Toyota Sienna driven by a 58-year-old New York City resident backed away from the air pump to leave the station and hit Sabino in the head, trapping him, authorities said.

Sabino was airlifted to Hackensack University Medical Center, but information about his condition could not be obtained from the hospital on Sunday.

No summons was issued. Police said the minivan driver could not see Sabino because of the height of the vehicle's rear door, authorities said. When officers arrived, they found Sabino conscious and lying on his back.

its horrible to hear these stories and even worse when you know the individual. Too many people are just careless and take things for granted when they drive. I am no exception and have had my share of close calls .

yeah i saw him today, his head was crushed, everything worked out in time to get him to the hospital and treated immediately. but he doesn't look to hot, eyes are swollen shut, needs his jaw reconstructed, metal plates on his skull to piece him back together. Its a shame, this kid was as straight as they come, i feel bad :(

I wish him all the best and a speedy recovery. I met Joe at the ROB and he is a very nice guy indeed. While things may not look so hot right now, given time to heal and rest he will hopefully recover fully.
