I have some Alfa Romeo, NOS outside door handles and glovebox locks, that use and have the ridiculously expensive "SAFE" keys that are in common with a few Ferrari door lock cylinders.
My question is: can the internals be transferred to a Dino cylinder, thus use the new keys?
I do not know how to, so if there is someone that can help, I would appreciate it enormously.
    Regards, Alberto

I have a few SAFE key blanks if interested. Let me know what number you have.

Possibly I was not very clear. I do have more than 10 keys, pre-cut, as they already fit specific lock barrels. My question is, how to transfer the guts of one to the other (Dino).
I know a "good" locksmith can probably address the issue, but here, all "good" locksmiths have left for the USA. Regards, Alberto

Show me a picture of the lock cylinder. Some lock cylinders come apart by prying up the lip for the front cover then press it back when the tumbler assembly is exchanged.

I used to use an automatic center punch with a ground down tip as a tool to snap the lip of the cover back on.

    Alberto,
(First confirm that both lock cylinders you are playing with have identical overall dimensions)
If they do, I usually take the lock cylinder out and clamp it gently in a vise so that the locking plates are accessible to work on.
Insert the key you would like to use, and then simply file down any locking plates that stick up so that they are flush/smooth with the cylinder.
Your key will now turn the lock cylinder once it is reinstalled in the lock mechanism.
Granted, using this method now makes the cylinder work with two keys, but it's fast, its free, and the first key is usually long gone.
    Best,
    Jon

(this trick can also be used for nefarious purposes. lol)

Thank you Jon, I will try your advice, and will keep you posted.
Nefarious, here? We are co-inventors of the term...
