    Hi guys,

I know this has been discussed in detail but I need some quick advice on how to safely jack the front of a TR up using 1 floor jack only (as pictured). Need to take the wheels off so i can start my brake caliper job.

    Floor Jack dimensions are (approximates):
The length from the pads to the bar is about ~2 ft (60 cm), lowest height from ground to pads is ~5 inches (130 cm) and the span from pad to pad is from ~1.5 to 2 ft (45-60 cm).

I think I can just get the jack underneath the front spoiler but I'll take it off if necessary. I also think the jack will end up around half way between the front spoiler to the wheel center.

Can't find the jack points in the Owners or Work Shop Manuals and from what I've read, neither do I trust them.

PS. Car in undrivable due to the clutch being out but can easily be pushed.

    Thanks

I have the same jack setup you have but don't use it in the front. The jack points are aft of the front wheels and that setup won't get far enough back. Look under the car just behind the wheels and you will see where the factory jack goes. I don't use my original tools. I bought two scissors jacks at Walmart for ~$20.00 each and jack each side a small amount, alternating sides. It take about 2 minutes. Why don't you trust the jack points? They will support the weight you are jacking--just don't only use one side.

Tim, you wouldn't believe it but that's exactly what I was thinking as son as I posted this thread up. Good idea.

I read that using just one jack point was not a good idea. Your idea avoids the chassis twist and therefore risk of cracking the rear window.

    Thanks again.
