    Hey,

How safe would I be parking a decent car in a Apartment "Secure" Garage? The complex has 230 apartments and its 3 stories, it's meant to be restricted access, so only tenants can get into the garage. The people generally seem youngish, and its in NE Seattle. Anyone out there had any experience in parking a car like this and not had any problems, or would you not recommend it?

    Cheers

    - Mark

A friend of mine has a beautiful condo in Queen Anne, it has secured underground parking (full sliding iron gate, with no crawl space) Yet, without a security camera system, monitored or otherwise, break-ins have occurred regularly. An alarm system is a must...

When he informed me of his recent break-ins I was floored. The target here, his newer Accord...no alarm at the time. Very bold thieves for this particular part of Queen Anne and this condo!

Uh, I would consider any sort of "shared" garage to be essentially "public" and "unsecure". I had a cop friend have the radio and parts stolen off his police bike parked in his "secured garage" at his apartment. I know one of our FCA members had his 328GTS repeatedly "keyed" in his apartment garage in Redmond, WA.

Could it be okay? Sure, just remember it is a much greater risk than a private garage. If you go for it, remember to leave absolutely nothing visible inside, (and better yet, keep nothing in the trunk either). And have a good alarm on the car.

    Hi Mark,

I would echo what others have already said!
Through years of experience there is absolutely no way to secure a shared parking garage, so it leaves everybody's car vulnerable. If you must park your Ferrari there, be sure to have a good alarm and a good comprehensive insurance policy. A car cover may help to deter prying eyes; but then many may want to see whats under the cover... bottom line.... "Good Luck!"

I found out from the city that I can add 4 more car garage. Perhaps before they are filled with my own cars, I can rent it monthly for F-car owners :)

I park my cars downtown in an "un" secured garage going on 1.5 years now...................never a problem. Mind you I usually have a cover on them and it doesn't hurt that I know all the security and maintenance guys who routinely make the rounds. But most definitely I know they are not 100% secure. Mark.............I live downtown. What complex are you speaking of. Send me a PM

Ahh Dave! To see these pictures again, just gets my blood boiling!!!!

I swear, people like this have got to have some sort of mental imbalance...and just complete jerks. I cannot understand how damaging ones property somehow makes the other person feel "better" about themselves... :(

Actually they are getting a rise out of making YOUR blood boil. As they walk away muttering, "Those stuck up Ferrari b**st*ds anyway".

Those are ugly pictures. I would be physically ill if I saw that done to my old yellow car. Very undeserving.
