Thank goodness NYS's finest was available in force yesterday morning at Captree. With all the illegal immigration, shootings, terrorist activity, and other public safety issues we see every day, NYS had at least four - maybe five- cruisers converged at the entrance to Captree. They were waving people in one at a time and had quite a long line of criminals lined up. I know a few on this board were in the penalty box so you know more than I do but to me it sure looked like the world is now safer because more cars will have their front plate secured. What a joke.

Its only gonna get worse as the Summer Months arrive. Captree closes and everyone goes to the OBI. The lot at the OBI is one quarter the size. So people end up parking on the median and on Ocean Parkway. The cops ticket and tow. Watch your asses on Ocean. Its a 15 miles straightaway. That doubles as a speed trap!!!!!!!

And YES, the world is now a better place since 4 tickets were written for NO FRONT PLATE. Yes the world is a safer place since you pay the POLICE salaries with your TAXES. Yes, there are Rapists and Murderers out there. But on SUNDAY , its the Automobile community that needs our attention. By the way, could some of you pay more in Taxes please, my salary is not high enough yet!!!

Hmmmm.... so much for the argument people were giving me in another recent thread about whether folks actually get ticketed for no front plates. I hate to say "I told you so," but.... I told you so.

It is just such absolute nonsense. Cops meeting their quotas, writing "easy" tickets, bothering "honest folk" who are just out enjoying a nice day. But that's the "gottcha" nature of the no front plate violation -- either it's there or its not, and if it's not, they gottcha. Someone should have dropped a box of donuts on the highway; that would have kept them busy most of the day.

Not to correct you. But if you drop a box of donuts in front of a cop, and that cop has a little coordination. Trust me. He will eat the donut and write the tickets . At the same time. All the while, staying warm, dry, and not spilling the coffee he is dipping the alleged donut into.

This is about QUOTAS, EASY tickets, and HARASSMENT directed mainly by Community annoyances!!!!!!!

That sucks. I hope it does not ruin it for everyone who just wants to hangout for a bit, meet up and take their cars out on nice sunday mornings.

It will ruin for those people who have "minor" infractions. No front plate, Expired anything, etc. I know plenty of people who dont use a Front plate. **** happens.

This Harassment/Enforcement is not something new. It has always been going on. It just changes as to how they do it. This week was a ROADBLOCK as you left Captree (so I heard).

Why worry about the front plate issue? Just request a court date. Take a pic of your car with the plate and voila.

I heard cops will even sign tickets off or something to that effect if the plate has been re-attached.

How hard is it to tape a front plate on for a few minutes? :p

    Yes, that's what they did.

Captree is at least seven miles from civilization but thank god we have our heros in blue watching out for some young kid smoking his tires. These egoists spend 25 years harassing the public and then turn into thieves when it comes to their golden year (the last year on the payroll when they clock more hours than imaginable; just so they can retire at twice their normal pay). They are no better than criminals themselves.

This is a pretty funny thread. Everyone breaks the law and gets pissed when they get caught. All you got to do is drill a few holes and screw the plate on. Oh well summer is coming so enjoy the sun.

    I agree, Steve.

At the same time, I understand anyone's reluctance about putting a license plate on the front end of a beautiful car. But that decision comes with the risk of being ticketed.

If/when you're ticketed, the problem isn't the police. The problem is with the violator who decided to take the risk, and then got caught. Sure it's a minor infraction in light of everything that's wrong with the world, but if you don't like the law....try to get it changed. Or just bite the bullet and put a license plate on the front of your car.

P.S. I do agree that there are more important things for them to do, like looking for drunk drivers, citing people driving recklessly or carelessly, etc.
