Does any body know the real story?
I live about the same distance from three different dealers. Closest is 250 miles away. Five years ago I buy a 355 from one of them. Two years later I buy a Maserati coupe. They take a deposit for a 430 6 speed. Couple of years later I buy a Porsche, six months after that I buy another porsche from the same dealer. They tell me I'll be able to order in 08.
My daughter goes to art school where one of the other dealers that is close to me is. We go in to look around and to look at the color and leather samples. The sales staff tells me that they are the only dealer that I can deal with and demand my name and number so they can call FNA and the dealer I've been dealing with! Mind you there is not a single Ferrari in the store to look at and they have a 5 yr. waiting list. They insist that they are my dealer and I cannot deal with any body else. I made a quick exit without leaving any info.
Over the weekend I went to visit my sister who lives where the third dealer is located. Went in to look at some very limited edition models they sell. Salesman strikes up a conversation. He goes on to tell me that he is my dealer and that i cannot buy from anybody else. To get a new car from them is a seven year wait and I'll have to "jump through hoops" to get a new car. He will however sell me as many used Ferraris as I want. HE also told me that the dealer holding my deposit has no right to do this and will never be able to place an order.
I did talk to the dealer holding my deposit after the first conversation with one of the dealers a month ago. He assured me that he was my dealer and I had no worries.
Does any one know what the real policy for FNA is?

Each dealer is allowed a 100 mile radius from their store or they can sell into open territories where there is no other dealer within 100 miles of their customer. If two dealers work overlapping areas then either dealer can sell to customers within that area.

    Hope this helps.

Since F-chat is the latest place you've asked, THIS is now your only dealer. Contact Rob, and he will guarantee that you might be allowed to pay MSRP + $200K up front, with delivery sometime. Maybe. But first you'll have to buy all of Rob's garage-sale junk for $100K cash just to get on the list......and you cannot talk to anyone else about your order..... :D :D :D :D :D
(just tryin' bring on some more F-chat revenue for you, Rob)

Lanikai is correct. There is a 100 mi. radius around each dealer of super-sacred protection, which ONLY applies to New cars. Ironically, the stealerships have shot themselves in their collective foot by their practice of only allowing selected buddies to buy ALL of any new allotments, then immediately putting the "used" car on the floor as a Pre-Owned, but available. There goes that 100mi. "New car protection" rackett.
Now it's down to scaring the crap out of any Newbie buyer with threats of reporting them to FoNA. It's B.S., buy your car wherever you want, especially since you're not within anyone's thuper-thpecial ring of mystical protection. It doesn't even matter if it's NOT the closest to you, it's just nice for you that it is, and if that dealer will honor your deal, you're all good. Enjoy.

If you have any questions, call FoNA: 201 816 2600
As long as the $$$$ keeps rolling in from the dealers, they'll be as vague as a hedging politician in responding to your queries.
