Good. At least Mclaren will be slow as Williams in about 1-2 seasons time..

Why did I *know* that would be the first response to this thread ;)

    Time will tell......

That did not take long. I doubt Mclaren need William's secrets :)

Sporting director is a useless title - if he was the Technical director we could safely eliminate McLaren from the title contender position

I've slagged him a few times, but the guy is capable on all fronts. He survived years upon years as the front man for Williams which makes the guy tougher than titanium and anything else...besides he has a near as makes no difference a decade of work under the vastly pointless Patrick Head and he hasn't gone on some shooting spree which makes him tougher than ****ing nails.

McLaren are tossing him a set of wings. It'll take a year or two for Sam to rid himself of the Williams way and get used to the McLaren way of doing bidness.

I'm of a mind that Sam at McLaren is a pretty good thing.

Like everything Frank and Patrick always done, they have nickeled and dimed themselves into a trailer park.

Not to mention they killed the sport's most popular driver with their **** car.

William's rally cry is, " We killed Senna, let's go for more."

I am no great fan of Frank Williams and Patrick Head myself, but this type of comment is completely undeserved.

Team Williams has won several WDC and WCC for it not to be treated with contempt.
The fortune of teams come and go, and Williams isn't at the crest of a wave now.
Williams is still among the leading independent teams.
Had they accepted the BMW proposal and sold then, I doubt they would still exist as a team.

Do you think teams "kill" their drivers when they have fatal accidents?
How many drivers Ferrari or Lotus have "killed"?

The car similar to the one that "Killed" Senna had just given Prost his 4th title; not bad for a car that's "lethal", I would say.

+1 Way, way out of line IMO. They're proven winners and will hopefully get there again. One of the few remaining Garagistes with any kind of history.

    Cheers,

Williams is in the sh?t right now just because Frank Williams didn´t want to sell his team (the work of a lifetime) to a big car manufacturer which doesn´t give a sh?t about motorsport.

Probably he´s wrong, but he has balls. Ron Dennis, Peter Sauber (or even Enzo Ferrari) were not so brave.

I feel so bad for Williams. Still my favorite team even as it sinks into obscurity.
The comment about Frank and Patrick nickle and diming it is spot on.
Time to sell before it capsizes.
    Anyone but Hyundai.

Once they ditch the pay driver and fire Boobens their fortunes may turn. Until then...

I think he'd look at offers from Dongfeng or Mahindra at this point. Possibly their worst year from the Wolf split onwards, I detested watching twilight descend on Tyrrell.
    BAR and Pollock ,,,yeecch.

You could be right, but I don't think so - He's *fiercely* independent and doesn't want to "report" to any corporate suits. Unless he decides he's had enough and sells the whole shooting match & retires.

    +1 :(

Indeed. I've said before, I've never been a fan of Pollock and his PURE venture already has a smell about it that's not nice.......

    Cheers,
    Ian
