So, for those of you that bought one....you like it?

    Positives/Negatives?

By chance do any of you own both Ipad and the Galaxy?

BlackBerry Playbook is coming out too.

IMO, neither will touch the iPad.

The new Google Chrome OS Netbooks will be very interesting, however. I could see them doing very well.

Apparently they are not that popular :)

We were going to buy an Ipad but my wife prefers the size on this one. All of the reviews seem positive and it has features that the Ipad doesn't but I think the Ipad is better, but.....

I don't think anyone has made the ideal pad computer yet. I've looked around a lot and they all have compromises. I think it will be a while before a perfect (or pretty good) tablet comes out.

I'm waiting for Microsoft to pull its head out and decide to continue production of the courier. That thing sounded incredible.

I have both the ipad (wifi) and the galaxy tab (3G vzw)
I prefer the tab over the ipad, I really like the size of the tab over the ipad. I can fit the tab in a jacket pocket and in my pants pocket if need be. I do have an android phone (droid x) so I am used to that OS but find that ios is so limited as far as use. Where on my phone and tab I have email, calendar, weather, task, ect widgets. My ipad has 6 folders with all of the icons inside.

Productivity wise I do not see any tablet that is out currently replacing my laptop. I use my tablets for quick web look ups and on the go remote PC connections. I do not foresee a time where I will write documents or make presentations on a tablet, and I do my on the go emails from my phone.

With the announcement of android honeycomb I am really excited for android tablets.

Got an iPad for Christmas and was shopping for an Android tablet by New Years if that tells you anything... iOS is astoundingly limited.

Also the 10" form factor can be pretty weird in terms of portability if you don't have a case or carry a backpack like I do (student).

I would like to try out a 7" tablet, but I wouldn't rush in to the Galaxy Tab. I hate TouchWiz and with so many Android tablets coming out in the next few months, there's no reason to rush in and get the Galaxy because it's the only one out now.

Found a review of the Galaxy Tab, might help you decide if you want to plump for it...
    http://www.android-tablet-pc.co.uk/Blog/archive/2011/01/samsung-galaxy-tab-review/

Samsung have announced they're making a Wi-Fi only version too if you don't want to be tied to a data contract.

Personally if I was thinking of buying now I'd wait, there's so many awesome tablets coming out from a bunch of makers. And that Android 3.0 is looking very interesting since it's been designed for tablets rather than a modified phone OS.

I own the iPad and have used a Galaxy for a good amount of time. Although the iOS is limited, you shouldn't be approaching it with the intent of replacing a laptop, its not going to happen. Typing any tablet/touchscreen can be a nag and it still is. However, for typing a short email and F chat posts its great. You can buy the optional keyboard for the iPad but at that point it loses purpose, just use a desktop or laptop. I feel the iPad has a better OS and is just so simple that it makes anything else seem like a hassle to use.

The end choice is always up to the buyer and some people just dislike apple, I'm not one and I love my iPad and iPhone. Different strokes for different folks. Happy comparisons!

We did end up buying the Galaxy Tablet. Just got back from our 3 week family holiday. No laptop this time, just the tablet. It worked great, the size is nice, not too big nor too small.....no complaints.
