Anyone here have contact or connections with local body shops/recommendations? I need a rear fender painted(Progressive is trying to screw me with their labor charges, under estimating). My motorcycle is a 2004 candy red VTX1300S. My fear is color matching since progressive doesn't want to replace the fender but just have the body work and paint done.

It's kind of hard to tell from the photo but it looks like most of it you can fix yourself, maybe a little color sanding on the paint (1500 or 2000 grit) might save you some money.

Yeah, but I'm not a paint guy and don't have experience with candy colors. Went down to the metal.

Oh Geez down to the metal, I didn't see that. Candies are a pain in the arse. Try to find a shop that uses the PPG photo matching paint system. Word for caution, any red candy is very difficult to match. Whoever paints it will have a quite a job to do without blending the paint on other panels.

Yeah, my insurance company wanted it painted instead of replacing the fender. I can guarantee you that the paint will be perfect before I place it back on the bike. I'll be removing the fender and the parts myself and dropping it off at the dealership....We'll see what happens.

Give Dale's Collision on Broadway & Josephine a try. They worked on my trucks front-end. They did a great job. While I was there, they were customizing a BWW 7Series for (former Spur) Antonio Daniels.

Ask for Jose, tell him to give you the double throw down wes hook-up deal... ok maybe not that.

He did a job or 4 for me...does good stuff.

If that doesn't work, ask Mookie. As much **** as he be crashin, he's got a good paint and body man. Dude has Mookies "stripe-mobile" on his biz card and all.

lol Wes, thanks....I need to get my damn schedule worked out. Keep over-booking myself helping some folks out, lol. I really need to get this done. Bike is going up for sale once it's fixed. I have my eyes on a Heritage Softail Harley/Peace Officer's edition. Wife and I are house hunting.
