Going to Frisco over Christmas break. First time, what are the popular sights to see? What is the weather like?

The weather will be cool - maybe even cold, and potentially wet....

"Don't Miss" spots for when we have family/friends in town are Union Square (especially at Xmas), Golden Gate Park, The Presidio, Fort Pointe, and Alcatraz. You'll most likely end up at Fisherman's Wharf - who doesn't - but aside from the breadbowl soups, it's your typical "tourist trap" locale (tshirt shops, "Ripley's Believe it or Not," etc.).

temps are usually brisk in the mid 50's, Wear layers of cloths with a good windbreaker if your going to hang out by the water.

Check out Fisherman's Wharf. Then have lunch at the Rainforest Cafe - great food! Afterwards, head over to Pier 39 for a real San Francisco experience. Top it all off with dinner at Hard Rock Cafe in it's new location - Pier 39! Or try Hooters.

Your questions seem to have been answered already, but I have one tip:
You should refer to the city as San Francisco, and not Frisco. When I first came here I did that (in 1980!), and I soon found that there are a surprising number of people who for some reason get offended by it. I couldn't care less what you call it myself, but just so you know, some will not take kindly to nicknames such as Frisco.

    Have fun!

Or it's "the city". Enjoy the city, it's a great place to visit, has some world class restraunts, world class views, and some of the nicest people around. Expect rain, but don't be surprised if you get clear days with low 70s.

If they still have it, try Sunday brunch at the Cliff House.
If not, try Sunday champaign brunch at City Scape at the Hilton. You must try the ostrich!

I would probably hang around the Union Square area myself just to soak in the hustle and bustle of the city. Probably if it were me, and using city transit, or walking, I'd walk through the Stockton Tunnel and if you want, look around Chinatown on the other side; keep walking along Stockton till you hit Columbus/Broadway. Walk around the "northbeach" area to see what restaurant might suit your fancy... keep walking north along Columbus till you hit the big tourist area, the Wharf. Ton's of stuff to do there and look.

Lunch around the wharf if you want; not sure what crabs will go for given the oil spill so be prepared to pay a lot more for crab if you like dungeness.

If you're in the mood, stick around the Ghirardelli Square to see the street acts (do they still do that?), if not, just walk back along Columbus to the eatery of your choosing (I love Italian food!)

For night cap, maybe head back to downtown, to the Hyatt Regency and hit up to Equinox (the rotating bar).

    Boy I miss the city.

    some cool places -

The Tonga Room - Tiki bar. Have a drink or two and watch it rain indoors.
The Redwood Room at the Clift Hotel - a hipster upscale bar.

Go see Lavay Smith at the Top of the Mark (the top level of the Mark Hopkins Hotel).

The MOMA is pretty cool too.

    Dinner at Scoma's or Faralon.

    Breakfast at Sears Fine Foods.

Drive across the Golden Gate, stomp around the Marin Headlands Park, have lunch in Sausalito.

We won't be able to use this week at our timeshare near Fisherman's Wharf. It's a beautiful place, located just steps away from the waterfront. It is very near some of the city's most famous attractions: Ghirardelli Square, the Hyde Street Pier, and Fisherman's Wharf. (all just a short distance away) I hate to see the time go to waste..so pm me if interested. Here is a link for more info:
