I am about to pull the trigger on a red/tan 575. I need your help to make me feel good about this deal or tell me I'm crazy. The price is $178,500.00. Below are the options:

2003 Ferrari 575, F1 transmission, 1800 miles. Red with two-tone tan dash and Daytona power seats in tan with natural inserts. leather rear shelf interior package, red calipers, CD and changer books tools. Includes $12,000 deep dish modular 575 wheels. one-owner California car factory warranty, MSRP of approximately $259,000.

    And it is Purrrrrrrrfect.

Seems like a reasonable price to me. If you pull the trigger be sure to post some pics!

The price sounds about right, and it sounds like a beautiful vehicle.

The only things I'd suggest considering further are:

    1. Do you like the look of the two-tone dash? I am assuming it is black and tan. Although this combo is great for Guinness and Bass, I tend to prefer a single color in my car.

    2. Are you OK without the Fiorano Handling Package? Based on comments from others on this board, I have come to understand that a 575 without FHP is not advisable unless you prefer a soft ride.

    3. No shields? I think they look great on the red vehicles!

Anyway, I mention these things only as points to consider, and I'm not trying to dissuade you from this vehicle. It really sounds like it is beautiful, and as long as you have considered these factors (and the others that are sure to be posted) and still decided that this is the car for you, I say go for it.

    Best of luck-
    Vic

    Thanks Vic,

Thanks Vic. Excellent points all. Actually the dash is a single tan no black and it does have the handing package although I failed to mention it. I agree on the shields but sometimes the car looks cleaner and perhaps more refined without them. The thing I love about the 12 cylinder Gts is the understated beauty and elegence of the car. Sheilds almost nulify that look, but I agee thay are sexy on a red car.

I'll post some pics when I get the car.

The 550 / 575 certainly is a gorgeous car. I love the lines of the car. I do disagree w/ you regarding the shields. Now I'm starting to miss my 550. It's a good thing I haven't found a Ferrari dealer that's open 24 hours :)

    Chris

If it has the FHP, the price actually sounds like a pretty good deal. Best of luck!

Wow, the depreciation on these things is staggering! Is it because of the V12??

btw, I think shields look cheesy on modern Ferraris. They look much cleaner and more elegant without them. Just personal preference, of course...

Not really staggering, just almost as much as a GT2 or X50.

Well, a 575 isn't in the cards, nor will it be for quite some time (maybe one day). I'd be happy with a nice 308GT4 or a 330 GTC (or an Enzo, or a 250GTO, a Napolis 330 P4).

    Thanks for the encouragement too!

Well as an owner of a 04 with pretty much the same options, I'd say go for it. It sounds like a good price and it is one amazing machine. I just wish it would stop snowing around here so I could drive it more.

My 575 has evolved into the perfect car for me. Mine is Pozzi blue, so it doesn't really scream Ferrari from a distance. I use it every day. It's the first Ferrari I've ever had (and I have a few!) that has needed new tires simply because the originals were worn.
I love my 575, it has a real trunk, normal size people can get in and out without requiring a chiropractor afterwards and it drives better than anything else in my stable. The price is good, certainly it's a lot more car than an 04 360 and much nicer in my humble opinion than a Bentley or a Vanquish, or even a big Benz CL55.

Check the "in-service" date. Odds are a 2003 car is already out of warranty (2 years). If it were me, I'd get the FNA extended warranty.

See my new post on my 550 (soon to be) purchase. Close your eyes, hand them the check, open eyes, take keys, and have fun. Sounds like a great car.

Factory quality sheilds can be added for $4K. I think that they look great on the 550.

Great price, but......Fiorano? The difference in the cars character seems, by all accounts to be more than worth the price. But if you love it, pull the trigger. ;)
