He'll probably get let off by the FIA just like he did at McLaren I don't know how he does it. Must have a mouth like a Hoover...
That's a good point and it may be the case. But I think the timing has more to do with the expiration of their McLaren deal at the end of this year. If Alonso came along in 2011 I'm sure Santander would still be happy.
Interestingly the Ferrari World Finals are being held outside Italy for the first time ever - guess where? Spain. I wonder why? Watch out for an Alonso announcement. Nathan
Yes I'm sure that could be MB's thinking, looking at the bigger picture the road car could have changed things.
It's official... Spanish banking giant Grupo Santander announced on Thursday it will be the Ferrari team's sponsor for the next five years. The company, currently sponsoring McLaren, said it will be Ferrari's "main" sponsor from next season. The deal was announced in a press conference at the Monza circuit on Thursday, when Ferrari chief Luca di Montezemolo was joined by Bank of Santander president Emilio Botin. "We are very happy to have a new partner like Santander, with whom we are beginning a very important and long term collaboration," said di Montezemolo. "We share common values, such as striving for excellence, a passion for competition, an international approach and, last but by no means least, the colour red. These values will make this a fruitful partnership, noteworthy around the world." http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/78459
1 annoucement down, 1 to go. Just need to know when/if Alonso will be joing Ferrari..... not that i want him too.
No matter what is planned I can't see any announcement concerning Alonso until the Renault situation is settled.
A wall of Alonso...looks like Fernando shaved his eyebrows! HEY WAIT...that's KIMI!!! WTF? Looks like The Iceman Remaineth! Image Unavailable, Please Login
So is Marlboro not going to be the Main sponsor for Ferriar anymore? I thought they held all the rights to the car.. Jim
Well the working part of the day is over in Europe (and has been for some 2.5 hours) and no news yet... Here's to me hoping that Santander won't sponsor and Kimi + massa will stay at Ferrari.
You mean I can't believe everything I read on the intrunets? You must be a musician also? He plays proper guitar for sure! He was one of my heroes as I cut my teeth on the instrument.
I can see why a team wants Alonso but I can't see why they would trade Kimi for Alonso. Kimi arguably is the quickest around. The only thing seperating Alonso and Kimi is the amount of championships won. In other words, it's not worth the switch. If it where perhaps Barrichello and Massa at Ferrari, putting alonso in the car would be a logic choice.
Kimi is fast, but Kimi is not consistent. Kimi also makes stupid mistakes towards the end of races. Alonso is fast, consistent, can develop a car and has proven time and time againt that his desire to win is about the strongest you'll ever find.
