You can't judge him on just a single season (like a lot do on here). Last season wasn't good for Kimi but all his seasons before that and this season he's done very good.
tobacco companies get screwed in europe due to advertising regulations that's all. marlboro is still around at the asian venues.
+100! Then again, judging Kimi on just last year is the only way others can justify to themselves that their favorite driver is better than Kimi.
In terms of judging his career you're correct. In the context of next year's roster "what have you done lately" is more germane.
Cheer yourself up go the book makers and but a £10 on Tonio Liuzzi (loots the boots) I fink thats what Isobel called him, to win in Monza you'll get great odds...
I hear you. I'm so totally drained of any positive emotion, it is painful. I woke up thinking about it and that we already have Alonso in the team. Couldn't wait to get online and read all about it. Then was stunned when I didn't find anything and finally the horror when realizing they didn't announce it. My day has been hell since and I'm the mood to murder the whole world. The journo I met in Valencia who told me then that the deal will be announced in Monza now thinks it won't be announced this weekend at all. They're probably waiting for the FIA decision regarding Renault and Alonso's involvement.
It maybe something to do with the stuff going on at Renault. Ahh yes you added that bit..thats it I think, it will get resolved one way or the other FA is Ferrari bound it's just when, this thing with Renault could get nasty though.
I see your point Dave. However, IMO I think this statement by Kimi makes the "what have you done lately" argument somewhat irrelevant. "They know at Ferrari what I am capable of and what Ive accomplished before so the results dont always tell everything."
True but in sports you're often only as good as your last season. With Kimi it seems that the issue isn't talent as much as it is motivation. In this light his current mind-set is particularly important. In any case I hope he's back next year.
An interesting comment from Luca .. with a Michael reference .. is there a hidden meaning? I don't want to get ahead of myself, but Red Bull effectively have 2 teams .. and with BMW pulling out there is an empy slot for next year. Is it possible for Ferrari to run a second "unofficial team", aka Team Schumacher? I know I'm dreaming, but why wud Luca make reference to Michael when he doesn't have to? "We have two drivers, now three [with Giancarlo Fisichella], plus also we are close to having Michael [Schumacher], so we have a lot of drivers - this is not a problem for us now," said di Montezemolo. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/78463
We have 2 drivers now and 3 with Giancarlo....so whats up with Alonso. The longer there is now news, Id say there was never a deal or the deal is off. Alonso has been very chatty lately for a guy who was supposedly all set to move. He is saying his drive for next year is not done yet. Ferrari dont NEED Alonso as much as Alonso might need Ferrari or some other top team. Who knows maybe he is off to Toyota We shall see I suppose.
Yes, they have done it before when the second team was titled Sauber and its drivers were Kimi and Massa.
