Why don't all of us coming up from Miami meet up somewhere and caravan up to the restaurant. Maybe La Carreta on Bird & 87th. or somewhere else.

    Scottie,

A bunch of Fiat owners around the state put together a weekend event up in Gainesville called "GTI04" (Gator Trails Italia 2004). The event has drives scheduled for Saturday and Sunday through the rolling hills of Alachua and Marion Counties. Word got out to some Alfa and Ferrari Owners that want to participate. They are looking to have over 20 + cars and it looks like to be a very good time. Awefully far from here, but hey it is a holiday weekend.

    Catch you later.

Didn't wait.. We all got together yesterday.. Had a great time.. I think we found a good spot for future meets.. It's in the middle for those coming north and south.. Good protected parking, good food, nice place and an outside bar with amazing views of the bay..

360 and a 512BBi??? Must be Christmas in late may.. Nice toys..

We met up in Miami on Bird Road & 87 at La Carreta, took 826 to 36st then 112 to 95. Martin, this is the perfect place for monthly meetings, its called Rogers, next or across from Benihanas. At least15 spots up front that will be held for us. I met up with Barton for the race, we can set up a meet there, he wanted to finalize the Squid logo.

The owner of the place came over and sat with us since he is friends with Armando (the white NSX).. We can get up front parking anytime we call up.. When we got there, cones were set up to block off out spots..

After we ate and drank for a couple of hours, we went east on 79th St and then grabbed Collins until South Beach... Then grabbed 5th Street until 836 and then everyone parted ways..

    It was fun..

Hopefully there will be more f-cars next time to balance it out...

    Sindo,

Glad you had a great time. The pics look great. As far as monthly dinners go at Roger's that place is not the greatest place to get to or leave from at night if you have to use I-95.

My sister-in-law use to live down there in North Bay Village and she had gotten robbed in her car in the evening time hours heading to 95 a couple of times. She finally moved out of there even though she loved her house and the neighborhood, but couldn't stand the fear everytime she had to go to 95.

We might want to take the safety factor into consideration here.

How long ago did this robbery happen?

The area has vastly improved because of the renovations happening on North Bay Village.. Plus, our meets will not happen at night and we have a relatively large group coming and going together.. So unless we get stuck in the middle of a summertime riot, we should be ok.. All of us came down 79 st from 95 and it was fine..
I don't know about the rest of the gang but I felt safe.

Also, we can always get there on alternate routes.. ie: Julia Tuttle Causeway then north on Collins until 71st then West until the 79st Causeway.. When there is a will, there is a way!

    Julian,

You are correct about when there is a will there is a way.

My sister-in-law was car jack/robbed during 2002-2003. She had also told us that the same thing happened to her neighbors during the same period. So many of them stopped driving accross 79th St. to 95 during the day and evening because of these incidents. These incidents made my sister-in-law and her husband decide to move out of North Bay Village where they had been living for 8 years.

They enjoyed North Bay Village, but just couldn't stand driving on 79th St to get to 95 due to how bad that neighborhood is.

There are a lot of places to meet in South Florida (centrally located to Dade and Broward people) that doesn't have to jepordize ones safety and the safety of our vehicles.

Sorry to hear about that misfortune.. I can certainly understand your apprehension..
Please feel free to suggest other locations and I am sure the rest of the gang is willing to compromise if it's warranted.

    Cheers.
