how many people, what car going, and can i bring some porsche guys if i can make it ?
Henry. Last drive we had 20cars....... about 10 Ferrari, 2 BMW, 4 Porsche, 4 Lotus.....something like that. I led with my C4S when I had it.......will be doing in the 360 this time. So definately not exclusive to F-Cars. The drives are at a safe (yet fun) pace so that every one can enjoy. (ie. none of the bit where there is a fast group, and slow group......... that wont' fly...........). I think we would be back down into the N.400 area come 1230-1pm at the very latest, and ,am drawing-a-blank on somewhere we could grab a bite for lunch.
Hey Guys, I think I'm gonna miss this one... I just have so much to do here at home... we've had company for the past two weeks... ugg.... maybe later in the month? Happy New Year to ya'll! Tom
Darn Tom! I was going to jump in your passanger seat, oh well maybe next time................... just kidding and a Happy New Year to everyone also.
If I can arrange care for my daughters, I'll bring my wife along, otherwise, it may end up being just me. I'm looking forward to it.
I can't think of a better way to start the New Year than to go for a drive in the North Georgia Mountains! This looks like a great trip and I'll be there. Thanks for putting this together Mr. Rittweger!
The usual suspects include a few Ferraris; 360, 355, 348, a Scuderia, a few Lotuses (Loti?); Exige S, Elise(s), Esprit V8, Aston Martin, Porsche(s), BMW M3(s) old and new, all the right people. Usually there are a few who run out front, then the group stops to re-group, and off we go. Anyone can travel at their own pace, nobody drives recklessly or too fast for the conditions. Having done this with some well-disciplined and 'not so well-disciplined' groups, this is a good well disciplined group interested in having fun but bringing it back in one piece.
Bob and I made a run out of it anyway. Martin rode shotgun with Bob and my daughter came along. Mick showed as well, but since it was foggy and wet, he chose to not take the drive. Once we got to the mountains, it was drying up and in the Lake Burton area it was dry and sunny!!... but only briefly. On the way back we found the rain. From the way it looked at Starbucks, I would not have expected it to be so different in the mountains, actually I figured it would be worse, not better. As for the roads, they're still clean! Next week the Lotus group has their 2nd Saturday run, maybe better weather.
Henry....... Typically Mick (from Lotus club) will post something over here on F-Chat, with a meeting place to be determined. (May be the WaffleHouse at end-of-400, or, may be at Starbucks as it seems to be a nice place to gather). But give it another day or so. On a side note...........I'd propose that we (the collective car lovin' folks we all are) go the route I had mentioned in this post at some time, as it really is nice.
Yes, the Lotus club's monthly drive is this Saturday. In fact, its the second Saturday of every month. We generally meet at the Chevron/Waffle House at the top end of 400, just south of Dahlonega. The drive starts at 9 AM so get there a little before hand with a full tank of gas. The route is determined on the spot, although we have a canned route which is a lot of fun too.
Well I was until Rick said he was............ Yea........ I'll be there if its clear. (I've been instructed=wife that Sunday is motorcycle day..................) BobR
If we keep planning mountian runs, the lake will be full in no time. Seems all we have to do is post a mountain run to assure rainfall!!!
