I just posted this info on Clubchat. My brother just came over Snoqualmie Pass on Sunday night and said there was still some sand on the road at the top. I imagine if the distances between cars was increased it would be okay, that and no lane changes directly in front of somebody. Not sure hoe it would be on the other passes either. Just a consideration......................
RTGT is open on sundays therefore I will make the drive with you guys on saturday. Should I bring my friend? Besides I've never seen an F40 in motion nor met SJ.........so will kill two birds with one stone!
I just posted in the club "chat". The North route could be a "clean" alternative if SteveJ's open to that. The DOT pass cameras shows quite a bit of dust and debris. Might be a little rough on the cars' finish and underbody.
My brother Eric said the lanes themselves are relatively clean but there is a fair amount along the sides of the road and I imagine a little in between the lanes. I don't mean to be a spoiler but I was flashing back to the Lake Cavanaugh run last fall when a few of us picked up some chips. I am sure as a group we would be careful of each other but we will be mixing it up with others on the way.
Crap! Due to all this whining about paint chips we are now going to the Resort at Semiahmoo. Please meet at the N-gate parking lot at 8:00am, in the NW corner as usual. We will depart at 8:30 promptly, using the route described previously. We need to arrive at the "Packers" restaurant by 11:30am to get prompt seating (they don't take reservations). 3 hours will give us plenty of time, to include a stop or two along the way for gas or photos. Pass the word to everyone of the route change. And get some Stongard for your cars! http://www.stongard.com/sgcontent/default.asp They give a 10% FCA discount no less..... Thanks a bunch Guys!!!! I told my 13 year old not to plan anything for Saturday. Why's that Dad? "We're going to Leavenworth". Oh Dad, PLEASE? Not Leavenworth again (My Wife always drags him up there). I said: We'll only be there for about 2 hours, have lunch, then head home " Trust me Son, You'll Thank me OK Dad! Oh well I'll keep a watch out for the next "Cascade Adventure".. I'm looking forward to meeting you folks.
BTW, I posted to the "Canada" section, and invited all the folks in the "lower mainland" of British Columbia to come join us for lunch!
Where are you going meet up first before the drive? I may not be able to make it to the drive, but I would still love to come by for the pre-drive chat.
Kuzi, No damage to front strut either? When I hit a soccer ball sized rock on Hwy 22 up on Santiam pass in my 914 at 75 mph it just put a lump on my perelli but toasted my front shock mount. Not second guessing ya Just making sure you thought of everything! I think it pitted my wheel bearing too but it was hard to tell if the damage was old.
I guess I'll hang out at exit 208 until you guys come by. Do you want to stop for a restroom break there or should I do a 'Blue Angel' meet up as you go by?
Willis, Thanks for the invitation, but it's a long haul from East Wenatchee! Perhaps my profile should read "WAY" East of Seattle. Next spring I'll tag along with my own F-Car.. Just so everyone knows: DOT has been sweeping the Pass's all week I was informed "Weather permitting, they try to have them swept clean by Easter weekend" Blewett today at 11:30 AM on my way back from Yakima and it was clean as I've seen it. A friend and fellow Service Club member who works at MS., comes over every Friday for Lunch, he traveled over Stevens today and said it had been swept clean. He's very much aware of the sand and gravel buildup between lanes because it caused him to roll his Explorer 2 years ago. Rule of Thumb: Mountain Passes OK by Easter weekend (Weather permitting)
Chuck, I didn't realize you were that far east. We will do a Leavenworth drive, like initially planned, on a future date. So keep you eyes open on this section for announcements!
Sorry if I put a damper on the original plan. Just looking out for trouble. Being Easter weekend I wonder if the roads will be full of preoccupied drivers overeacting to non-events. I hate it when that happens! Likewise, I havn't been over the hill for a while. Better days are ahead.
I actually was able to drive around with no ill effects afterwards............before I even noticed what had happened to the front rim. There was no noticeable side effects of having a cracked rim..........I assume that my alignment would have been off or something. However it drove like nothing had happened......she tracked true like before. Definitely will get it checked out though.
Sorry to intrude on your Washington thread----however RTGT is closed on Sundays. Have a great ride tomorrow. Marty
Actually talked to Kelly Brown and RTGT showroom is open limited hours on sundays now. The service dept is not open however......jfyi
RTGT showroom on Sunday? I make it a routine when I'm in Portland. Never known them to be closed. The staff are usually starved to talk to someone who actually knows something about the cars. Hans. PS: Drive up in a Yugo. I got tossed out when I showed up in my GT4. <jk>
