On the fresher side of the newsfront this morning ..........I like Peter Sauber and this could be a good thing if they were to choose him. And a good thing if Kubica were to be one of the drivers. Hopefully we will know more about this team next week.

Peter Sauber has refused to rule out returning to the pitwall as the boss of the Qadbak-owned "Sauber-Ferrari" team next year.

In an interview with the Swiss newspaper Blick, he said he had been intimately involved in the talks that see the formerly BMW-owned team change hands to a consortium involving unnamed Middle Eastern and European families.

Asked what role he is now going to play in the Hinwil-based outfit he founded in 1993, Sauber answered: "We are probably going to meet again next week and then I will be able to better answer this question."

Asked if he might be appointed team boss, a role he occupied until he sold to BMW at the end of 2005, Sauber said: "If the investors want me as the team head then I will do that.

"That doesn't mean I want to do it, but the fact is I assured these people before the sale that I am at their disposal if they need me, no matter for what role."

He admitted the team could be entered into the 2010 championship as Sauber-Ferrari, but stressed that "this question might only be answered conclusively next week."

He also said the question of drivers will be discussed shortly, and refused to divulge any further information about the mysterious buyout consortium Qadbak. "All I can say is that the group has enterprises the whole world over and wants to use Formula One as a business platform.”

I doubt they'll get supply from Mercedes when Williams has already been denied.

    There's always Cosworth (snerk)

I would never trust Ferrari to deliver the full 'A' package motor to a customer car, regardless of how the rules are written. Manufacturing tolerances can be -so- fickle...

Reading between the lines it sounds like he is on the outside now hoping to be asked in.

It appears that the new owners bought all the shares, including Peter Sauber's, so I guess he is now on the outside.

I have read the new owners of BMW Sauber may use Peter Sauber for a while, but he says he does not need the job..

You might want to look up the 2008 Monza race.

He really doesn't. And that's not being coy. He made enough money when he sold the team the first time around. He then went into retirement playing golf, his passion. His wife was mildly amused about his recent new involvement. So he really sits on the fence: If they need him, he'll be there otherwise he won't be sad either.

If he got fair market value for his 20% I'd hope he wouldn't need a job.

Just that one race Andreas. Apart from that Ferrari customer engines failed to create any spark.

A close relationship with ferrari could help overcome the test/reserve driver problems that Ferrari had this year. If you were in Peter's shoes, who would you put in a seat? (we know who Carol wants)....a

    Point taken.

Maybe it is not just about the Ferrari CUSTOMER engines, but the engines themselves? Maybe Ferrari wins (or looses) these days because of the rest of the car?

A Brawn goes better than a McLaren. Heck even a Force India can beat a McLaren.

I don't think Sauber needed a job before he got into racing or sold his shares. Gheez, $100 in green fees....he could still have played gold till he was what 23,500 years old? :)

Just $ 100 for green fees in Switzerland? Where is that discount place? :)

I have followed Sauber's career only loosely, but believe he was from modest/average beginnings and racing was his passion. He turned it into a profession eventually for mere necessity to make ends meet. He hit the jackpot when he got the Mercedes deal for Le Mans. Thereafter he was on financial solid ground.
