It is time to start putting together the Savannah Roebling event. The dates this year are October 27th-29th. The host Hotel will likely be the Westin Savannah River Resort @ 205.00 per night. The Doubletree is also available at 159.00, but last year the parking issues with trailers and the aweful road noise for those on the front side of the hotel were of enough concern to relocate. I will be working to set up the restaurants and event schedules in coming weeks Stay tuned for more info. Charles
That might be true regarding Roebling, but FCA *does* allow us to have convertibles without rollbars in the slower/touring group as long as the specific track allows it. There is just a separate "convertible waiver" to sign.
Mike this is true. But traditionally very few people have signed up in the novice group that stayed in it. As instructors approved them they went into intermediate and we eliminated the novice group 3/4 way thru 1st day. Would be bad to have a group with 2-3 cars left in it, and the track does put a serious speed limit--(65mph) on cars withour rollbars.
So what's my next option? I am not going to add a rollbar on my Spider for a track event, that's ridiculous, if 65MPH is the only option for Spiders, so be it, I'm not Michael Schumacher. I'll sign up since I am a local here. Stephane Scaledetails
As a total novice (I've only been on a track once in a beater track owned car) it sounds like if you have a spider W/O roll bar you would stay in the novice group no matter what the instructor said and what would be so bad to have 2 or 3 cars in the group?
we generally like to eliminate the novice group after the first day to get it down to 3 groups--therefore allowing everyone a lot more running time. Believe me, running at 65 will get really boring once you get the hang of it. I will see what I can do to accomodate the Spyders for a 1 day fee if we can work it out but on 2nd day it is unlikely that anyone will want to run novice class.
This will be fun, my RSR should be done in time! You guys think the little purple car was quick.... the new one is going to be a MONSTER! Terry
Come over to "Little Talladega" the next time we put on an event there. You can slide through corners and hammer the gas pedal to your heart's content! (www.tradetutor.com/tgpr)
For Fall this year in Alabama, we're going to have a small charity fund-raiser event at a private test track owned by Dunlop Tire just outside of Huntsville. It's the largest *motorcycle* test track/facility in North America, and this will be the first time the track has been made available to the Ferrari Club. Tentative date is Saturday Oct 14. It will probably be limited to no more than a dozen cars (Ferraris only).
