Hey all, I am very new to the boards, but I've had a fantastic time since I first came upon Fchat and I wanted to extend a big hello to you all from the West Coast.

Sadly, there just doesn't seem to be enough Ferraris around these days. :( It probably has something to do with the fact that a couple of owners living close by seem to have sold their Ferraris, now seeing one is becoming a rare treat indeed. I used to spot one every weekend, now months are going by without a sighting. Oh well.

However! Today I did get to see a beautiful, gorgeous, divine Rosso Corsa 328 (I believe it was GTS, was too excited at the time to take it all in during the brief moment)

It made my month! I hope it's the not so perfect weather keeping them at bay, I'm not sure what has happened to the Ferrari population west side.

Hi there! Welcome to the board.

Yes, there certainly aren't enough Ferraris (or other exotics for that matter...) here!

I've heard from the dealer here that there are about 100 Fcars in SA. Dunno about the rest of the country.

I think one of the main reasons for this is the absurd "luxury tax" and other import duties that bump up the Australian prices to almost double that of the US prices.

This, along with higher fuel prices and much higher income tax leaves alot less money for the 20m people of Aus to spend on high-end items like fcars.

hi Strasse welcome aboard, there are plenty of Ferraris in the west and if you've got a lazy $100k you can get an older car so you can see one everyday then :)

If you are really serious about seeing more cars John Millard is on this forum and he is the WA president and relatively nice guy to boot who can give you times and places the club has some outings which would give you the opportunity to see many Fcars, although much easier to buy an old clunker like mine and become part of the club than just whinge about taxes, although we all agree we're being screwed

Heya guys, thank you for your replies :)

I wasn't aware that there officially was a Ferrari club in W.A. which is a wonderful surprise. However, the last thing I want to do is be a bother to anyone, especially since I imagine the events and gatherings are quite popular with drooling gawkers.

The dream of my life is to one day be an owner. But being honest, my current tenure with the "students between uni degrees" income group is not yielding very lucrative returns. ;)

You are all nice guys! Thanks for reading my post.

Also, I hope you Perth folks enjoy the Burswood motorshow that's starting tomorrow (wed 21st, 10am), I highly doubt any F-cars will be on display, but I'll take the camera just in case.

    Ciao

There's supposed to be a 360 (CS? The newspaper supplement thing suggested so), a Maserati Spider and an N-GT(?) spec Maserati as well (presumably the one that made occasional Nations Cup appearances last year). The full list is at http://www.autoexpo.com.au/pdfs/models.pdf

I believe there is 1 360 Challenge Stradale and 2 360 Challenge cars here in S.A.

Maybe the 360 CS is going on a road trip?

Admiral, that would've been fantastic, but sadly it wasn't the case. :( But they did have a gorgeous 360 Modena, a Murcielago and a Gallardo - I didn't expect to see a Murci at all.

I'll upload some pics soon. :)

Looking at them now, the Ferrari pics came out blurry while the Lambo ones are fine. Gotta control the hands shakin' whenever I see a Ferrari ;p

    Hi JM
Nah - the car is super fast - the driver is old and slow though!

BTW - what is the market value on a 308GT4 spider? :)

    Cheers

dunno, but I'm about to find out :(

I'm thinking of putting the 308 in the fiat 2300s, that should upset 2 marques very quickly :)

The section where the driver sits in the GT4 spider looks very dodgy and I have no idea how the beep-beep I got out of that one :)
