There I am........sitting at a light on 3rd street in downtown Calgary thinking that the people on the corner are looking at "me" in my nice shiny 911.........when up "rolls" this new Bentley. (pun intended)

Well....ego aside.....heh.....it's one heck of a car. The rear quarter view is impressive as is the front view.....but from the side.....it's a little to high for my liking. It was a granite green metallic color on a taupe interior (not my first choice by a longshot) and this may have affected my initial perception. Maybe a black or navy blue car would look different.

Funny thing is.....as it pulled away.......it sounded like a Jetta. Seriously......there was no throaty burble or anything to indicate that it had a 500HP 12 cylinder motor. But.....it did look like it was worth every penny of, and perhaps more than, it's $245 CAD MSRP.

It's the first one I have seen in Calgary and I didn't recognize the driver either.

saw one in vancouver. very nice.
but, just the looks of the interior looks more VW than bently, and the thought that it is cousin to the VW Phaeton makes me wonder whether it is truly worth that $245k.

I loved it from the pics ... but in real life, it's quite disapointing. Looks heavy and beefy. Too tall. A shame.
Light years away from a Continental T :(

    Continental T...mmmmmmmmm.
Conjures up dreams of a pure badass fox mauling with the hounds....mmmmmmm. The stuff that dreams are made of.
I just want to shoot that sly little bugger out of the tree and chuck him in my boot lined with wilton carpet and trimmed with leather.
I shall then retire to the drawing room by the fire while the staff makes me some slippers out of the little fella'.
I find these English cars very inspiring...is it just me?

Can't wait to see a rapper version of the GT soon...pimpin' at tea time.

Personally, the Bentley, is like a big Lincoln...not into that. They look fine and the interior and workmanship are very beautiful to say the least. But for all that money, buy a lexus, or linciln and dump the rest into fcars....you;ll have much more fun !! just my .2cents.

Bentley has exclusivity. While Lexus is go for putting around town the BiG B. makes a nice entrance at any restaurant, etc, etc. Ferrari will do this also ahhahah. BUTTTTTTTTTT I want MORE MORE MORE.

The best tagline for a car ad that I ever saw was for the new Bentley Azure a few years back in the DR.

    "You don't park a Bentley....you position it"

Tut...tut....old chap release the hounds and pass me my rifle.

And let us remember that a Rolls/Bentley product never breaks down...

They only, ' Fail to proceed '

Me in 1991...standing outside ' the tower ' next to my trusty Robert Jankel Factory Rolls Silver Spur Limosuine as it sprayed oil, from a very recent service, all over the road. Rather messy and a tad embarrassing for this Mason's Black on Tan hides beauty. Corporate wealth and power never looked so beautiful and sad all at the same time. I was fresh out of the Army and standing straight and tall trying to put on a brave face with all the comments from the 'little' people...are they allowed to simply just speak to you without any sort of invitation? I was in a full suit and one lady asked, " are you the mechanic that they send out for this?" I said yes madam, my helicopter is on the roof and I arrived here as soon as we received word in England; I have come with the appropriate tool. She said, "oh my I can't wait to tell my husband!"

I've seen the new Bentley Continental on the road. I almost mistook it for a Mercedes-Benz CLK coupe. It looks like a bigger version of the older, original CLK. I was not very impressed.

With as many horses as it has under its hood, (and as much torque), you'd expect it to perform better. But the thing is just so damn heavy that it doesn't.

I'd take the 612 Scaglietti instead. Too expensive? I'd take a 456M, or even the original 456 GT in its stead.

The Bentley is exclusive to be sure, but I find it underwhelming.

The the interior on the 612 is gorgeous they forgot about the design. This car is truly the ugly duckling of Ferrari. They commemorated this particular car to Scag but didn't use their design team and sourced the body to another firm.

Personally I have seen way too many Bentley Continental GTs and sadly they have all been black. When I walked by the dealer a couple of weeks ago I spotted a total of 8 on their lot/showroom/garage and they were all silver or black. How imaginative! The car bores me.

They do have other colors. I've seen Burgandy and 2 Navy Blue ones, besides the silver and black. The car sounds great and looks good too. Its not meant to be a flat out sports car (as I'm sure we all know). So, quit knockin' it like its supposed to be. Its an incredible grand-tourer. That's all its meant to be.

I also think it's great looking, but oddly tall.

It's amazing to think it weighs about as much as a pickup.

Of course they have other colours, I was merely commenting on the fact that the ones at the dealer (I think 8 Bentley GTs is quite a few) were black or silver.

If I were to buy a high end grand tourer I would take an Aston Martin DB9 or Vanquish over the Bentley any day.
