I've been on the list for an Elise for 2 yrs now. Got a call from Bernard at Scotti to come see the car they have in for the Ottawa Auto Show. Finally saw and sat in my future car. I'm officially first on the list for the Canadian (as per Scotti). LOOKING FORWARD TO IT!!!!!!!! Damn this spring fever!! Congrats, it's a hot car. Not sure if you drove one yet but apparently its awesome. Handling is the best! I myself havent driven one but a very good friend tested one at the race track and solo track in Burmingham Alabama for the N.America Elise launch last year. Can't wait to see/drive them myself. Once again, congrats on the purchase. I certainly hope Canada gets them soon. I am very aware of the red tape they are tangled in.
Beautiful! I never knew John Scotti Had a showroom in Ottawa. Only knew about the one here in Montreal.
No, I think he meant that car is in for the Ottawa show. But it's sitting in Montreal for the time being. As far as I know, Scotti is only in Montreal.
Finally, Lotus Elise in Canada!! Peter, you took that picture in Montreal @ John Scotti? (reading the thread, I'm not sure anymore)For sure I'm going to see it next week. The color and the wheels are nice on that one. That's the one you're getting? You're keeping the 348? Hope so. By the way you should come to the Ferrari Festival in Tremblant this June.
I highly doubt that is even a Canadian model. They are having a hard time bringing them in. I did hear a couple of weeks ago (From a dealer himself) that they are one step closer. I hope they are right. It truly is a nice car and we deserve to see such nice cars like that on the road. Canada really needs to keep up. *sigh* Vasco.R
I've heard the same thing from the Lamdo guy @ the Montreal Auto show, it's a real shame. So the Elise is at the Scotti exotic showroom?
Damned bumper regulations. Even for the US Lotus had to get a special exemption for a couple of years in order to be able to bring in the Elise. Last September a guy from New York state brought up an orange Elise for British Car Day in Oakville, Ontario. I doubt we'll see the Lotus in Canada before the new model comes out which is supposed to meet all regulations. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Congratulations on your purchase. The colour is just a tad bright for me, but the car's sound is very nice (there's a red Elise in Buffalo). I've heard the owner crank it up and it's an intoxicating sound. Hopefully you won't need to wait much longer.
Vaxco, The Lotus in the photo was brought up for the auto show. It is a US model. John, I do plan on keeping the 348 and I plan on being at the Ferrari Festival in June. Perhaps I'll be able to give you a run on the track this year. I like the screaming colors on this car. It's styling is so dramatic that a mute color would be lost IMHO. It's almost too pretty for a guy, until you drive it. The bumpers still need to pass and the headlight seals need to be completed. Scotti is conversing regularly with Lotus and is still convinced we will see this car in Canada this year. I'm hoping!!
Well, this is good news! I had some serious doubts about this car getting into Canada, but it looks like it will. Fingers are still crossed though!
