Ruf RGT, R-Turbo? If RTurbo, which one? They range from like, 480 to 600 hp, I think.

That's the RGT. Basically a GT3 for us US owners, as the mark 1 996 GT3 was not available here. 380hp.

Now that you say that, I think it was a RGT, because the plates were something like RUF RGT. Do you know the stats for this one, I was wondering why it didnt say Ruf on the back, I didnt know that they made anything other than the Rturbo. What is the model that they modify to start with on the RGT. Thanks for clearing that up!

Actually, RUF is considered a manufacturer and not a tuner. He builds cars from the ground up by getting factory shells and making those into RUF cars with his own VIN. Beautiful pics of a beautiful car.:)

It was owned by a man named Gary who lives in VA, apparently he went over and bought it, then got it modified in Europe.

    Sounds like a porsche-Ruf. (P-car Vin). Not a RUF Porsche (RUF VIN#).
In other words it is not an authentic RUF car.

A friend of mine from Houston has one that was given to him by some rich lady in trade for landscaping services. He didn't even know what he had. It is an 89(?) slantnose 930 turbo. Incredible car. 40K miles. It has been an open check book car. The best of everything and it is perfect.

Well, he said he purchased the car and then had it taken to Europe to have
it modified. I would assume a Ruf conversion. That is my ASSUMPTION.
Real VIN RUF cars are VERY rare. My sisters '87 was 1 of 4 slants built in 87.
MOST cars that say RUF are p-car conversions done by authorized RUF Reps.
Not trying to make waves, just assumed this because he said it had been modded elsewhere. Most people are not modifying factory RUF cars as they are turned up pretty well already.

I would consider both authentic although there is some cache associated with the cars that have a Ruf VIN.

For the car to carry the Ruf VIN, the body shell is purchased from Porsche by Ruf (in White) and hand built from the ground up.

    Maybe 20 - 35 cars a year?????

Here is a pic of my 93 RUF BTR2 3.8L (Ruf VIN)

    Note:
This is a narrow body Turbo (Porsche never made one!)
    No Badges (Ruf or Porsche)
Equipped with Ruf Designed 6 speed before Porsche introduced in 993

    Cheers!

well the Steve i know had 4 of them. this is what i heard..but he gave one to his bro, he crashed two at the track, and his last one was sent back to germany to get even more built up. it came back with 500 sum hp...

it was absolutely sick! he took me out in the car at our local track, i was scared the whole way around the track..that car is nuts... thats all i have to say.

his were true RUF vin cars... and u can always send them back and have more work done on them..it take a lil thing, well a lot of it actually..the color green give u an idea?

It's just cool to see one. You see Porsche then your gut starts making you look closer. Here is only one I've seen. I saw it later racing a brand new GT3 on the freeway.

As posted, the yellow Ruf car's owner's name is Gary and he lives in No Va. Gary and his wife met personally with Ruf to spec everything from the gear ratios to all the cosmetic bits - a very interesting process, to hear Gary tell it. Gary is a longtime enthusiast, club racer, Porsche owner, etc. who is not afraid to use his cars - this Ruf is in very good hands.
