I saw the new Aston V8 in person and I must say they hit a home run. Wow, what a car! The front looks so good with those flared fenders. Anyone else see it in the flesh? I was really impressed - looked good from every angle.

Have one here in the showroom, I think it's the nicest car Aston has released in the last decade. Looks better than the Vanquish in my opinion, and alot funner to drive. At 100k less than a Vanquish, you can't go wrong!!

Perfect proportions and I hear a two year waiting list..

    Beautiful car without a doubt.

I did indeed see one in person, and due to some very kind words from a friend/colleague at Ford PR to the local dealer, I was invited to drive the V8 Vantage that came to Denver for the Denver Auto Show some months back. I've owned about 200 (mostly Italian, quite a few English, a handful of American, and 3 German) cars, but no British cars for the last 15 years or so except several Caterhams. I've never been even remotely tempted by anything else British that I could afford (that clause allows for the McLaren F1). I was absolutely blown away by the V8 both in terms of its stunning design and the driving experience. Anyway, to make a long story slightly shorter, I ordered a 2007 V8 Vantage, Meteorite/black cherry to arrive in October. I can't wait. It is so cool to actually be excited about a new car, and this whole experience has really brought home to me how utterly lacking most modern car styling is- I can't remember being seriously tempted by any new car for a long, long time. Jeremy Clarkson has it right, at least this time-the Aston V8 Vantage is the coolest car around.

I drove one 3 weeks ago. It is a very impressive car. The DB9 doesn't do it for me but the V8 is an incredible car. Even though it's about $20k over a Carrera S when you factor in the options, I would take one over the Carrera S all day long. Brilliant car. And when you get on the gas, it sounds like a 1980's IMSA Trans Am race car.

A local owner (took delivery of #1 in Phoenix) says it sounds like NASCAR. I'm not sure how fitting that is for an Aston.

My family and I happened to be at our local dealer about 2 hours after their first one arrived (their show car, apparently not for sale) so the salesman took us back to the detail garage to take a look at it. I was extremely impressed with it. On the outside, it looks exquisite from every angle. On the inside, it was definitely aston quality, and extremely well done. The only problem was, my being 6'3" tall, I had a little problem with my knees being too close to the steering wheel. I'm confident however, that if given the chance to drive one, I would either figure out how to fit in the car properly, or go get some plastice surgery to fix this affliction, but I don't think it would bother me very long.

As for the sound, it was also quite incredible. Absolutely not what you would expect from an aston, but extremely pleasing to the ears.

Definitely NOT nascar. For the price (without getting to drive it) I think it is a very very good car.

It's much better looking than the Vanquish and slightly better looking than the gorgeous db9 imo. I examined all 3 from different angles at my dealership and realized that the vantage is the best looking one. I got an 07 on order, can't wait.

I was at Galpin Aston Martin the other day..considering it as a daily driver..they said early jan delivery. Does that sound right ? Thats not a 2 year wait..I definately wouldnt wait any longer than early Jan.

And yeah its a great car...cant see why anyone would get a Porsche over it.

P.S. who else has been to that showroom ? Incredible..like being in a james bond movie.

It's nice to see that designers can still come up with a beautifully done cohesive design after some of the recent offerings from Ferrari, and, of course, our friend Bangle!

But it's also much more of a GT than a sports car. I haven't driven one yet but my impression as a passenger was that it's not going to be a very "involving" drive. Way too refined and way too quiet (at least on the inside). These attributes are great for a GT but end up leading to a bland driving experience in a sports car.

Lovely car, but I wasn't convinced by the test drive. It is just not very exciting to drive, and for some reason I did not particularly like the engine sound (I fully floord it several times and found it to be actually pretty quiet.)

I'd take a used Ferrari or a new 911 GT3 (or regular 911 for daily driving plus $$$ in my pocket).

Unlike all recent Ferraris, you don't have to "get used to it" or "see it in the metal" to appreciate it. I have not heard of anyone who does not think it is a very beautiful car. Add to that extremely capable mechanicals, relatively reasonable price, and a high measure of exclusivity and class, it is IMHO the best car available right now.

Saw a dark grey one at a Porsche dealer yesterday. Have also seen a red one with chrome rims sitting in front of our local AM dealer. The car is gorgeous! I love 'em.
