Went over to Boston Sportscar this morning to part ways with my 308 GT4. It's on its way to a new owner. It's a great car, I hope the newbie takes good care of it. Now the problem, what to replace it with? I'm thinking I'll keep the 328, but would love to have a 12 as well. Any ideas?

IMHO, as one who is always looking but has not yet pulled the trigger:

    -512 TR

    Bird,

It's a simple story of women not understanding "male speak." As you may remember I'd had the car for sale for a while last summer. I had told my wife that I would sell the car if I could get my price, up there for a GT4. What Linda didn't understand is that "if I get my price" is male speak for "I don't really want to sell it."

While the car was at BSC for some pre-putting-it-back-on-the-road repairs, I sent Linda over with the plates so that the car could be inspected before we picked it up. While she was there (I was working) someone gave her "my price!" She joyfully sold it, assuming that I would be thrilled. Oh, well.

If the new owner is on Fchat, you are getting a great car! Enjoy it.

It's probably for the best. Now I'm going to take some time, drive a lot of different Fcars and decide what's next. A 550 would be a dream, but possibly a bit out of reach. I definetly want to look at a TR, and I have an enormous weakness for the 365 GT/C4, if a good one could be found. Right now, I'm looking at everything.

Lesson to be learned? Although it, apparently, is fair for women to talk in code and assume that men understand, this doesn't hold true in the inverse.

The market is tough on the GT4s, but a good one is well worth the money!!!

Mine was the black one and I'd love to have any pics of it you might have. I've heard a lot of stories about Boxers being maintenance nightmares, does anyone have any input on that?

Seems like a high-class problem to have.

Would support the idea of a 550 -- especially where prices are today. I'm in love with the car, and am certainly going to be adding one to my stable. Assuming the economics work, this is the 12-banger dreams are made of.

    Tom,

Have you replaced your 308 yet? I saw your 328 @ Lime Rock, but never got a chance to talk with you. I know you were thinking of that antique English car at KTR Performance........but a TR would be a nice addition to your family. Since you already have an 8, a 12 would round things off nicely.

What exactly are 550's running at right now?

    Just curious.

Sorry to hear your car is gone, but I'm sure you will move on to new things.

I have seen 550s in the $130K - $150K range, depending upon mileage, condition and color. I cant believe that they are so "inexpensive" considering that they were over $200K not too long ago......

Changes at work, namely being unexpectedly cut to half-time/half salary, have precluded any search for a successor to the GT4. For what ever reason there was no follow up from KTR on the MG-Q we were thinking about. Probably just as well now. Our current thinking is a 12. I'm still in love with C4's, which may be the most affordable 12 out there. Haven't discounted much of anything, TR, etc., but I think a 550 (as much as I would kill for Doody's, love that interior) is just out of reach until some financial problems are worked out.
