Ferrari 1/18 scale model prices have gotten completely out of hand; is there a reasonable supplier out there?

Prices have gone up across the board, meaning dealers are paying much higher wholesale prices as well. At the same time, margins have gone down. Why has this happened? White metal costs have skyrocketed, as have labor charges, even in Asia. But most importantly, quality is WAAAAY up. Everyone remembers Bburago models selling for $25-$35, but forgets how primitive they were compared to a modern Minichamps, AutoArt or especially a CMC. The new 1/18 diecast are so much more accurate and detailed, and worth the new higher prices.

    Agreed.
I would add to your list Hotwheels Elite, BBR, GMP and Exoto. I am collecting red Ferraris 1/18 and I have about 100. My average buying price (including shipment) is approx. $200 but you can find some very good quality cars at or below $100 (Hotwheels Elite mainly).
They are significantly better than the old Bburagos or Maistos.

Labor costs in China since 2000 has risen 3.5 times. Add to that other costs and ever-increasing greed of car manufacturers that lost some other sources of income and are charging much more than before for licensing...
