Hi All. I have a couple of the track plan books that Scalextric put out years ago, but I am looking for track plans for an area 6 feet by 10 feet. I am building a track for my nephew on a plywood base, and they have that area to build the track. I don't like tracks that overlap, so I am wondering if anyone has a good track layout that might work. I'm going to start fiddling with the 2 sets that I am going to combine tonight and see what layout I can get.

I recommend physically Xeroxing one of each track piece, make multiple copies of each piece then lay out the paper on your 6x10 in an arrangement you like. Make 11x17 copies of multiple corners or straights connected together to reduce your chance for error due to not ligning up the paper track sections perfectly. You could also shrink your copies down to 25% or so to make setting up a quick and dirty experiments.

I suggest Carrera track over Scalextric. I am about to sell all my SCX/Scaley stuff for Carrera.

The magazine "Model Car Racing" always has layouts of cool tracks for all manufacturers. Current issue (March/April) has various plans for Fiorano for different manufacturers and different underlying board sizes.

Since you're just starting out, I strongly recommend you go digital and there IMHO Ninco is best (they just released their system at the Nueremberg toy fare).

Personally I have built Fiorano with analog Scalextric, but I'll replace the whole system with a digital Ninco (although Scalextric and Ninco track elements can be combined via coupler pieces). If you want some more details, let me know.

I yahoo searched for track plans and came up with some interesting layouts, but i'll have to massage them a bit to fit within 6x10 feet. I already have 2 large Scalextric sets NIB that i will use, but I want to get some of the really tight corners
