I had this dream a while ago, but I watched The Excorcist: The beginning and where it took place/ what it deals with reminded me of probably one of the scariest dream I might ever have.

Now, Im not really serious on religion, I do go to church, but not every Sunday. In this dream I had I can remember being in the desert and sitting down at a huge table and having a conversation with a man that I saw as the devil, I cant remember what we talking about, but I do remember he looked like; he was in his fifties, grey slicked back hair, wrinkled forehead and kind of an aged face and dressed in black. After that I can remember him showing me the way into hell, first we went throught this big banquet type place where so many people I knew where dressed up in the nicest clothes, then down a staircase and into this cave that lead to hell, it was actually really colorful I can remember. I had one more conversation with him, but I dont remember what it was like. I dont remember actually going into Hell itself, i woke up after my last conversation with him.

Not really a horror, bloody type dream of dream, but definetly shocking and scary to me that I can dream about meeting and conversating with the devil.

So, lets hear them, the dreams that still make you a little scared today.

Honestly, I don't have distubing dreams, they've ceased since I was a kid; however, the most intersting one was driving an automatic TR looking for the stick. Scary? no, but I'd file it under 'what the heck was I dreaming???"

(Depending on how many fchat'rs participate, dreams explain many things about phobias, how you see yourself in the world, etc. If one has a frequency of waking up screaming bloody murder in the middle of the night drenched in sweat, there's a little more than a bad memory going on upstairs.)

When I was 10ish I had a dream I was under ground with a massive ogre. He was working in some type of work shop and I was in a barrel covered by a lid with a hole in the side. As he was walking around tinkering {he was about 8 or 9 feet tall and looked very strong very wide and mean}, I was growing bigger inside the barrel and soon I was touching both sides and then, just as he was turning around to face the barrel for the first time, I realized I was crouching outside and behind the barrel. Let me tell you, he didn't look happy. No where to run, no where to hide, just the end of me.

I've had some cool falling dreams. Running up the Skydome steps in the middle of the night in the dead silence of winter being chased by security guards that were gaining on me and 2 others I didn't know, the 2 others get to the top of the roof first and leap over the side. I get there and do a forward 1/2 flip fall to the ground landing in a snow bank, just like if you were to prop yourself in a bed to read. I layed there in the cool snow bank {a fairly warm night} and then I heard the other 2 call to me so i got up and ran very quickly but effortlessly down the street.

I also tend to have dreams about not being able to stop a car. In all cases I'm already going slowly 15kph-ish and in traffic. I have both feet on the brakes, pedal to the floor and the car slowing down ever sooo slowly. The dreams always end before I stop or hit anything so I just assume the meaning of the dream is somewhat serious and the hitting of cars is unavoidable so my mind wakes up.

Oddly enough, my most annoying dreams are when I dream of riding my dirtbike, and come up short on a double, bail, and land 30ft lower. And the fall seems to last forever ... very weird because it feels so real ... and could be real (except the one hour fall...). Had this dream more than once ...
    Also hate drowning.

Back in 1986, 2 days before the space shuttle exploded, I had a really graphic, disturbing dream about a pilot falling off a rocket and dying. He was clutching on to it, looked over at me with a helpless look and fell off. Something about it bugged me, and when the shuttle blew up it kind of freaked me out.

I had a really weird dream a few weeks ago, I was driving a Countach, but it had the controls of a bicycle, with the handle bars. I remember trying to stop but only having using one of the brakes and always rearending the car in front of me. I also remember the cluth was really weird and it wouldnt go all the way down or something. It was just a really weird dream. We should get a shrink in here to tell us what these all mean. :)

    I have a couple,
    1) after watching 'sighs' I used to sleep with a window at the head of the bed and a TV at the foot of the bed when ever I woke up at night I would see a street light or something reflecting in the TV and it would keep me up for hours

    2) I still wake up now in the middle of the night counting on my fingers the college classes I have, cause I used to take five classes at a time, occasionally I would have to think did I go to a class this week, did I miss something, but the I start counting on my hand the classes and realize I graduated from college two years ago.........

I hate those mid awake/sleeping dreams where you kind of know you are falling asleep but than you feel as if you're falling and your entire body twitches, waking you up.

Ah, sleep... The enemy of unconscious peace...

Let me preface this with what i believe to be a stone cold fact... i once read somewhere that the colder the room you sleep in, the better your chances are of having a nightmare... For me, it's pretty friggin' close to clockwork... i sleep in a VERY hot room... VERY hot...

Anyway, one of the dreams i've had in the last few years that sticks out was of me driving to work - which was less than a mile away at the time... i had a bit of road rage back then and it spilled over into the dream... Some guy in the street did something to piss me off, so i stopped the car, got out and proceeded to pulverize him... i mean literally, my fists were steadily crashing into this guy's head, as hard as i could thrust them... i was looking to tenderize his brain... This went on for what seemed like minutes... i literally threw hundreds of relentless punches... Crushing blow after crushing blow into this guy's skull... Finally, i stopped... i looked at him... His whole head was covered in blood... He was soaked in it... Then i looked at his face...

    ...and it was me.

As fücked up as that one was, it wasn't the scariest, by far...

It's been years since this has happened, but during my teens, i had three separate dreams, on three separate occasions, spread years apart... What made these three dreams special... was that they came true. Very random, insignificant events; well, insignificant in that it didn't make sense for them to come true over any others... One involved a life or death situation where i was staring down the barrel of a gun but that dream never had an end to it... Well, you can imagine the horror that gripped me when that dream played out in real life and some very real, cold steel was in my face and i knew how everything was to happen before it happened except the ending, because in my somnolence, i awoke before the ending...

    i despise sleep.

1.The worst one is waking up with that CREEPY Burger King guy in my face. The same frozen expression, not talking, just getting closer and closer and closer..............................with a feeling of impending ill will.

    2. Finding out I'm still married to my ex-wife.

For me, the hotter the room, the worse the dream. I feel like I am suffocating.

I used to have dreams like that, where I'd be driving a cool sports car and it would turn into a pedal car. I'd be pedalling my ass off and going nowhere.

Many oneirocritics follow Freuds line of thinking, that dreams are merely vehicles that your subconscious uses to convey thoughts and feelings... For instance, dreams about falling might be indicative of feeling like you're falling behind or losing grip, etcetera and so forth... Dreams are pretty cool if you can interpret them... Of course, as Freud said, sometimes, a cigar is just a cigar... :)

Can't really recall any truely scarey dream.

What is scarey is the fact I enjoy the adrenaline rush I get from having those dreams where you're falling off a cliff or the like, and you wake up right when your suppose to hit the ground.

Yea I kinda like that too, sometimes I just hope for a really vivid dream, or something that will stick with me for a while and has some meaning, not just a dream you remember one and only one thing from and that one thing you remember is kinda out there.
