Last Sunday I did a SCCA Performance Driving eXperience in my 2001 360 Modena on the short course at Sebring. This is my first time at this track and the $90 fee is a bargen!!!! My Regonial SCCA Track License allowed me to drive in the Intermediate/Advanced group. This day started out with a lot of rain that did clear up and the track did dry off. My first session was a 'get to know the track' drive. My next two sessions showed much improvement and higher speeds. I found out that my best lap time was in the third session at 1.27.40. I was going from turn 4 to 5 and 5 to 6 in fourth gear at 8000 rpm!!! I was getting up to 124 mph thru turn 10 (Gurney Bend) before slowing down for turn 10 (Hairpin).

    What an awesome day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not with issues... my exhaust sounded louder as I headed back to the Paddock. Upon inspection, I see that I blew out one of my 02 bung and sensor. After removing the CATS, I found cracks half way around the second CAT bung. The hot exhaust out the bung hole melted the urethane seal of the BMC air cleaner. I made gussets to reinforce the bungs and welding them in. After I installed the headers, high flow CATs, and FabSpeed muffler, I was getting CEL. I tried the angled spacers, the added the Mini CAT that did get rid of the CEL. Not sure if all that weight hanging out is good. I suspect that there is a lot of heat and vibration that the thin stainless steel could not hold. I made 'X' shaped gusset that will be welded all around in addition to the weld of the bung. This should spread out the weld and the support.

I also lost a bolt Ass'y from one of the exhaust tip mounting flange.

Great day at the track and the driving fun priceless!!!!!!
