Has anyone run the 328 competitively in SCCA autoX recently? The B Stock classification seems to be stacked pretty heavily against the cavallino. Thoughts?

Yes, the Ferraris are classed tough. Only if a few top drivers start driving them regularly (to where there's more experience with where their true performance is) will there be any classing other than one that is very optimistic about how good it could be.

But at local events, the driver matters much more than the car... so, don't worry about it. If you get nationally-competitive and want to win the big events, then you'll need to get one of the few "top of the class" cars.

I've run my 308 a few times and am hoping to get it out a lot more this year. I get stuck in Emod because of my non-stock engine, so I take a real beating. I'm going to try slicks like the rest of the cars in my class the next time out, that should close the gap. They may have changed it, but the first time I ran the car stock, it was A stock, not B. Either way, the people who do well in any class have the propper tires. If you want to compete, you need a set of DOT race tires. Remember autocross is a race with winners and the top drivers are there to win. This very different from track day type events which are practice days...you can't win practice so very few people try, they drive within there limits and equipment. At a race, they are trying to be the best, so the equipment is at the limits (or just past) what the rules will allow. Winning cars in stock classes are often nothing like stock.

Yep, E-mod can be tough. What engine do you have in there?
If its a Ferrari engine, you may be able to run in one of the new Street Modified classes. I plan to run my Stradale in SM2, positioning it as a modified 360 Modena. The SM classes are designed to allow a lot of the mods that are common on the street... even blowers or different engines... but not a lot of the stuff that makes E-mod so much faster (like gutting the car, replacing exterior panels, and completely re-engineering the suspension). The min-weights are pretty light, but rarely are people going there.

It's the original engine, just the blower/intercooler. Also non stock springs and anti-sway bars...now that I think about it, it's been 2 years since I've been to an AX...they only had 1 SM class an I think it was for 2 liter. If there are new classes that sounds ideal...but I'm guessing I'll need to get the slicks off and DOT race on for SM?
