Personally I like that single large case compared to the two large thin cases, I think it's a more manly case :)

I just found a set so rare that I had to ask Schedoni himself what it was... I'm waiting for the answer! :)

No, nobody can know it. In any case I will tell the whole story, that is a BOMB story, even if my set it's not what I think it is.

It is obviously the Schedoni luggage set for the 1957 Citroën Deux Chevaux.

Of course, there were "2CV" manufactured in 1957, but the prototype actually dates back to 1937; it was called the TPV at the time, and differed from the "2CV" that would be eventually produced in serie by having a water cooled engine and an aluminium body. World War Two stopped its development, as is designer stubbornly refused any cooperation with the Germans; the twenty or so TPV already produced were hidden. Meanwhile, the design evolved towards what we know today as the first "2CV" with the adoption of steel panels for the body and an air cooled engine.
A little known fact is that the styling of the car was supervised by the great italian stylist Flaminio Bertoni, whose pen would later give us the DS in 1955.
The rationalisation plan of the french automobile industry delayed the arrival of the "2CV" on the market, as Citroën was initially supposed to produce only high-end cars. The "definitive" first model of the "2CV" was unveiled at the Paris salon in October 1948.
Six months later, the waiting list for one ordered new was three years; at the end of 1949, for one ordered new, the waiting list was five years...

Yes! but you could actually say it was from 1937, in the form of the TPV; the "actual car" as we know it was ready for production in 1944, but the launch delayed to 1948.

A very interesting history lesson. (Sorry Alberto for hijacking your thread.) All I know is that I really want an early production 2CV!

I called the 2CV the "mosquitos proof car". Means that the body panels of a 2CV were so "strong" that they could stop the mosquitos but not the hornets... :D

    ciao

    PS
You and Nerofer will be fined USD 1000 (at least...) each for hijacking my thread!! ;)

The bomb news is officially confirmed. It's the 2nd in ranking in the whole Schedoni history as historic importance: You saw the first in ranking in the last post of page 1.

Would it "pass" the emissions tests, Brian? Or, if my understanding about California laws is correct (??) being pre-1975, it would be exempted?

As I understand it, due to its age, it would be exempt from emissions testing and could easily be registered in California.

Not much more than most people know, which I am nevertheless sending you by P.M, to avoid Alberto having a heart attack...or receiving a bomb by the post (he knows my adress!).

Oh, perhaps only one information: if you want one, you would need a stack of money. Low- production (only 695 cars) and technical originality make these highly collectable: the best ones cost the price of a low mileage Ferrari 458 or 488!
A very-low mileage (= 11.367 kms, about 7.000 miles) pristine - even exceptional - early example, chassis #76, first-hand from a french doctor living in a mountainous region, sold for 172.800 € (about 220.000 $) (all seller expenses and commissions included) at the Retromobile Artcurial sale in 2016...

    Rgds
