A few months ago I bought a black 5 piece luggage set. From the outside they appear to be effectively unused but the inside is showing all the normal flaking issues- see pics below. I'd like to be able to use them a bit and keep with the car but have heard mixed messages regarding relining. I've read and been told on the board here generally not do it because it would destroy the luggage/be cost prohibitive. I brought the pieces to a local refinisher who is contracted by Hermes to fix birkin bags. He quoted me ~$1000 to refinish the interior of all 5 pieces in lambskin which is the only product he uses. Was curious if anyone had any experience doing this? Cost/method/material/results/recommended refinishers/impact on resale/etc.

You’d have to fully dis-assemble the bags and restitch. Leather lining would be a good way to go if you love the bags.

I’m not sure you could find the black (multiple horse pattern) logo fabric they used after that - although that would look great and update the bags.

Wow, that's disappointing. Reminds me of Russian luggage from during the Cold War.

I tried looking at Schedoni's website but it won't fully load. Demands cookies.

Would schedoni be able to re-line them to original spec?

I asked Schedoni about replacing the lining. He indicated it would be too expensive to de-stitch the set to replace that component. So it was something given his current work load and focus that they would not do.

It was my understanding that the original fabric had rubber in it so it’s a matter of when, not if they start to peel like my photos. Preference would be to line with a more permanent solution- curious if anyone had a sense of what a reasonable cost would be.

He has no interest. Small company and too much work as it is. The material was chosen by Ferrari and was very fragile and short lived. Using it again if available would be a mistake.

I would probably have it redone but not with OEM stuff as it will happen again, basically the same as you said in lambskin. For others, try Rago Brothers in NJ. They fix high end bags for retailers, Channel sends their stuff there. My wife had a bag repaired there.

Very nice!, Too bad that Rago is on a different continent and too far, Is there anybody who knows a Rago alternative in EU (preferably NL)?
